HM Plant Honda's Josh Brookes will not be riding at Brands Hatch British Superbike opening round this weekend as he was refused entry into the UK this morning.
Brookes did not have the correct immigration paperwork when he arrived and was subsequently put on a plane straight back to Australia. He will be replaced by Steve Plater just for this round.
"It's devastating for Josh and devastating for the team for this to happen now," said team boss Havier Beltran. "The laws have changed regarding visas and it has caused huge problems. Steve Plater will ride for us at Brands."
“It is going to be a busy weekend in the office for me,” said Plater. “But I thrive on being kept busy so am sure I can do justice to both classes. I haven’t actually ridden the bike as yet but have been on a similar Honda Fireblade this week as I have been in France testing for the Le Mans 24-hour race. I was called up to ride for the Honda France team after Jean-Michael Bayle was sidelined with a knee injury that prevents him racing at Le Mans.”

bumer that would be a real let down .
So they put him straight on a plane back to Oz. Now with his papers sorted he's up for another 20 hour flight? That's 60 hours flying before the race.
Fuck that, can't they sort it out remotely?

If that whole boarder security show has taught me anything (other than to double bag any contraband), it would be that if you're refused immigration, you are sent back to either the country on your passport or the country where you flew in from.
tho i'm not sure which one...

The last time I was at the airport they had a big sign saying to delcare all goods and not to bring fruit and veges etc. There was a large picture of a woman putting a pineapple in the bin.
C'mon, a pineapple. :lmao:
That sucks............. we will probably see him on TV shortly but it will be on "Border Security" and not BSB.

Makes me laugh that immigration shit in Europe.
If your a member of the EU.....no paperwork required.
We are a member of the commonwealth and have to jump through hoops to get it.
The people who tried to take the country by force in the 2ndWW can come and go as they please........Its all fucked up if you ask me.
Immigration grabbed me at Heathrow a couple of years ago.....said I fitted the profile of someone who might overstay their visa......I said I'm Australian and I'm not staying in this shit hole.

They nabbed me at Heathrow too a few years back. They pulled me aside and asked me every little question you can think of. Mind you it was Winter and I had a trench-coat on. And a thick beard and moustache.

flew around the world in 05 and didn't have one problem in any of the countries, and was a breeze in the states and the UK in and out, all they asked me and the wife in the UK was what we where going to be doing and who we are staying with. If i travel by myself to the UK or EU i will use my British passport but with my wife and kids it'll be my Aussie so we don't get separated at customs.
