First of all thanks to all the people from RATS I met up with at Phillip Island. It was great to make friends with you all and you are truly a great bunch people both on and off the track :ayyy:
Can't wait to head up to Sidney.............I'll bring some more potato juice Dave :lmao:
BTW, I liked AUS from day one and it is absolutely a place I could live.
Some of you have read my post over at GDC so it's old news, but anyhow here it goes:
Even though the Afterburner was great fun for me the second ride day I did on the March 12th was a lot better organized and even more fun for me after two days at CSS (level 1&2).
Mangaed a high 1:54 on the last day and that isn't too bad for a first timer I have heard.
Big props to the guys running the Css at PI. Great class room teachers and good coaching on the track. Even after practicng the stuff from the books on the road for a while now and having 30 years of riding under the belt I couldn't believe it was possible to get as many eye-openers in two days. A brilliant concept IMO................but maybe they should make for a level 5 that focuses on braking?
After PI it was off to the Land of Smiles and the fun at Bira Circuit.
Great fun as ever, but the downside was I had a nasty crash on the last day.
Made a mistake on the fast long right hander, drifted wide, hit some slippery stuff, bike stood up after nearly highsiding me and it was heading for the concrete wall. Then the funny thing is ( some will know how slow things appear when you crash) I thought about the crash Sin had at PI and decided I had to get off the bike, jammed the rear brake and as result I hit the tire wall instead.........lucky escape infact. Thanks for tha reminder Sin and hoe you are recovirng well.
Came away with a fractured finger and a blue eye, jumped on a rather shitty 1997 600 an hour later and managed 2nd place in the race. It made the day a little better :mod_smilie_rockwoot
I am heading for Vietnam next year. I will then hopefully have a lot more holiday time than now and it is a very large possibility I will send the K5 over to Melbourne if everything plays out right for me.
And that I will come to EC next year is a promise.
PS! Good luck with your new job Mick. It sounds to me that it was time to move on for you mate :)
Enjoy some photos.......
