He limped over the line into 15 position.
Awesome race by Spies, Fabricio and Haga

Thanks Bigdog, yeah gawd damn... how good is his sportsmanship, i mean the guy just worked his ARSE off for all those laps, then rides like his life depends on it for the last lap, final corner, first position, a handful of points down on the championship he needs this win, then out of fuel - THEN... as he walks near the public on his way back to the pits he's waving to the crowd... WOW!!!! I know nothing of the guy but just that action speaks volumes! Outstanding!!!
Yeah...cool cucumber that dude
On the other extreme, hows Fabrizio's form....last week he's belt'in it...this week he's hung'in it

And did he give Spies the finger when he went past.... lol
Yeah, I bet he was praying Spies DNF'ed after he gave him that premature wave....okay the dude's fast, but you don't have to be a tool about it.

I don't like Fabrizio already, doesn't take much to build an opinion, does it? :lmao: For what it's worth, that's his home track, he probably knows it back to front ... let's see how he goes elsewhere.
Hope Haga is OK, anyone heard?
Biaggi wasn't happy:
“This Championship is managed by amateurs! It’s disgusting the way they treated us! First, the cutting of the chicane was almost insignificant and I didn’t even gain a tenth of a second and second, when I asked for the FIM representative, Claude Denis for an explanation he told me that he didn’t have time to discuss this with me. I’m tired of this conduct, I’m calling it quits with SBK.”

I think he was just waving to Ben, ha. How quick was the Aprilia?Honda really need to do something though, very disappointing this year . might have to lend Ten Kate my 954!!

That 1st race was a cracker. Bummer bout Spies tho. Poor bugger.
Kyonari really pulled em in towards the end of that race too, he must have pulling some impressive times.
As for Max, I thought it was simple. If he had of let Kagayama past after he took the short cut I dont think there would have been a problem. It would have been hard for em to justify a 20 sec penalty if he had lost a place.
Calling it quits :baby:

Yep, that's what he should have done.

In the old days...running off track would equal a big crash, so whilst I applaud the safety aspects, It does leave a question on how fair they re-join and add to this the interpretation of the rules at each venue its always going to be controversal.
Better Idea (IMHO) would be to have a big red zone painted at each of these runn off areas.... Bit of a calculation and then make it clear to all that if your bike goes through the zone, then its an automatic +5 seconds (say) ... change the time to suit the corner so there is no advantage to doing it on purpose. plus make it compulsory to drop back behind the bikes you may accidently overtake. Could even put up a big LED display near the "zone" (bit like the roadwork signs), so its obvious to the bike he's just got a +5 added....

Pics of the Race 1 incident
The start of it all as Tamada collides with Aussie Brendan Roberts

While Tamada falls, Roberts becomes a passenger (note the rear wheel and direction of Roberts' bike)

A bit of carnage further up as Tommy Hill now goes down (not sure whether he had been hit by Roberts)
http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd70/BNWombat/R1start_09SBK05_1209_AN.jpg
Hill falls off and his bike becomes a bowling ball aimed at the middle of the pack (note Parkes on the far right who has seen and is watching)

Max calmed down just a little after race 2:
“I’m very angry, I respect the person who made this decision, but I believe that the penalty was excessive. I could understand if in that point I’d have gained something, but checking the times you can see that I was half a second slower. Last year in that same place, Smrz went straight and knocked me down breaking my little finger and the fifth metacarpus of my left hand and no disciplinary measures were taken. I didn’t want to take part in Race 2, but being pratical, I decided to race and forget the controversy. Race 2 wasn’t going bad and my times were good and I was closing in the on the group, but I made a mistake and lost ground.”

Whilst some have seen fit to criticise Fabrizio, personally I find his post race comments humble and all class.
Michel Fabrizio (Race 1 – winner, Race 2 – 2nd)
“I am so happy with today’s results. It’s gone well all weekend so I knew I had the chance to fight for the win and at last I’ve done it! Mid way through race 1 I was having trouble with the gears, especially when Ben passed me, but I didn’t give up and fought till the end. It’s a shame for Ben that the race finished as it did because it makes mine a bit of a false win but I’m very pleased of course. Race 2? Well Ben deserved the win in the first race so I’m pleased he took it instead in Race 2. I had to ride the second bike in Race 2 and for some reason I found it tricky at the start, I didn’t have a great feeling and couldn’t push but after a few laps I just concentrated on reaching the podium again and then it became easier. I thank my whole team for giving me such a fantastic bike this weekend. The double win I’ll leave for the next race!”

Its a bit of a reminder of the gold medal in the skating, leaders falls over, and guy coming closer to last gets the gold medal. Only in this case, leader runs out of fuel, and Fabrizio takes the win, understandable that some will critisize his "gracefull victory"..
Them accidents actually got alot of coverage on TV though, wish they wouldnt need such circumstances to give the coverage they deserve :(

No, it's not even that. You know when you meet someone for the first time, and something doesn't sit quite right? The way he looks, his behaviour, his apparent attitude?
I know it's not fair, what have we seen ... 2 minutes of this bloke? Parhaps in person he's totally different, but that's the impression I get from those few minutes. Kinda like with Lorenzo .... whereas I liked Rossi (or Bayliss) immediately - and who knows what they're really like?

Rossi is very different away from the camera's, just ask some of the restaurants at PI what they think of him & his tall poppy syndrome. To be honest I don't care what there like personally I just enjoy watching them all ride two wheeled machines like demons.

That's probably true ... and once you know what they're really like, no more 'hero'. I used to do a lot of work in the Eastern Suburbs, and often came across TV personalities and wow, how different most of them are from their TV 'persona'.

I was gonna say, Rossi cock, Bayliss , f'kin legend. Couldn't be more different. Haha But Cap's right, you have thesepre conceived idea's of what people are like based on initial sight or sound, that can either work out even better in person, change your mind and make someone appear in a differnt light than previously seen, or be a huge disappointment. I'm lucky the people I have met have been even better and made me like them more so than i did previously.

Biaggi loses appeal
The slow wheels of justice aren’t limited only to Italy, it looks like the Swiss Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and likes to take its sweet time (7 months) before deciding on racing appeals as does Max Biaggi and Aprilia Racing about filing them.
Many of you may remember that after the carnage during Race 1 at Monza last year, the race had to be re-started and during the 7th lap Biaggi cut the Roggia chicane and after the race while heading to the podium to claim his third place, was stopped by the Race Direction and penalized twenty seconds which put Biaggi in 11th place in the race standings and bumping Ryuichi Kiyonari into third.
Understandably the Roman Emperor had a fit, claiming that the Race Direction had all the time to give him a ride through and that cutting the chicane didn’t gain him any advantage in the race.
The CAS has ruled against the appeal stating that it was filed too late, therefore inadmissable. Wonderful. You’d think that Aprilia’s lawyers could have checked out the CAS website or phoned to check about filing deadlines.

Maybe their lawyers were too busy preparing for the impending discussions with new owners requiring engine swaps.......... :spank:
