I'm keen for a week day track day at EC :-)

zRoYz

I think Kirby would also come if I go as he is 1/2 owner of track bike & we go in diff groups.

Here's the deal Pan.....

Any member is free to organise trackdays and generate members support for them...thats what we are here for as a forum, & we at RATs support people showing the initative...:ayyy: however, you (as the arranger), will have to arrange it, collect the money & book it thru Eastern Creek (or Circuit Breakers etc). It won't, however, be an official RATs ride day, and as such, you won't be able to use our name when you book it... they only accept bookings from Bigdog or Kat00 at EC, or Dungbeetle or myself at Oran Pk. This is to protect the deals we have running with the operators....

Don't let this put you off, so go for it & book away! EC has a Trackstars package that you can get for 10+ people. Its not as good as our deal, but better than a kick in the arse!!!

:mod_smilie_rockwoot :mod_smilie_rockwoot

:confused1:
So should I contact Kat00 or Bigdog to make it one, or is there another reason why this shouldn't be a RATS day?

Am I missing something here? :confused1:

Are we (RATS) limited to a certain number of track days per year or something?

pan
19-04-2007, 06:31 PM
Yeh, I hear what you're saying Mono, though I think it still leaves us, as RATS, open to criticism...

1) people may complain that we're not doing what we promote (To ensure that Track Days remain financially accessible to both seasoned Track Day riders and new comers to Track days)
2) people won't complain if there's no BBQ

Can a couple more of us be "trained-up" in a hurry with regard to the "things" that need doing so we can share the load and organise more of these days?

Back on the 12th of April I was told, "You will need at least 10 RATs members Pan 'ol son!". Now I feel bad because I've been promoting it here and also told plenty of people at other forums about us too, and at least 3 have joined RATS to do this track day with us, and at least 2 others from the Busa Club have said they would.

I understand there may not be much you can do, but it would be nice to hear from Bigdog and/or Kat00 too... in case they have any ideas :confused1:

Given that weekday trackdays are likely to increase in the future as more people join this site, perhaps someone (and I would offer, but I suspect a more senior member would be more suitable) should also open a bank account to assist in the organising of weekday track days.

What do you guys think? And if this suggestion is completly stupid or it has already been done, excuse my ignorance.

striker
20-04-2007, 08:51 PM
It would prevent us from increasing the workload of the guys who already organise these things.

dungbeetle
20-04-2007, 08:55 PM
nah workload aint the prob mate...im not really sure what the prob is but im sure someone will give ya an answer soon. i to hope that we can organise more track days in the future, and a decent discount on the weekday ones would be even better. i bet they scrape to have 50 bikes at the weekday trackdays, if they gave us a bigger discount, id be doin them instead of weekends.

Spoke to EC on Friday and on this occasion they are going to let us split the Trackday.
Not too sure if we want to push our luck in the future with them.

We need the names for the riders for the Friday Trackday no later than Friday Pan. Whoever has put the money in the bank off that list, we will pass thier names onto EC.

The cost for the ride will be $160.00 ea.

PM me your email address Pan and I will send you a copy of the format that we send the riders names to EC. If you could arrange the riders details in the format required and send it back to me, we will pass the info onto EC.

Get the riders to PM or email me when they have deposited the money and I will advise the riders by PM or email when we get their deposit.

You will need at least 10

Not sure where the 10 came from :confused1: . Its 14.
14@ $160.00=$2040.00 but they reduce it to $2200.00

Not that it matters much cause we are splitting it across 2 days.

How much less crowded are the weekdays? I'd prefer the Friday if it's a lot less crowded than Saturday the 26th would be.

I'll probably pay for either one today some time.

Thanks! :)

Last time I went on a weekday they actually cut it down to 3 groups instead of 4 so we all got more runs! It doesn't always work that way though!

pan

I doubt EC would give any indication of numbers so far, or even on the day before!

It shouldn't be a problem to switch groups. You might find some days B1 is slower and other days it's like group A... just depends on the weather, people's moods, who shows up on the day, hormones, the cycle of the moon... etc...

Yeh week day track days are normally a little faster pace even in C group so don't worry to much, with your R1 you can blow them away down the straight if held up. Because I share a track bike when we do same day I go in lower group than I should just because my partner in crime is faster than me. I tend to enjoy the chase due to my bike being down on hp & ground clearance & get blown away down the straight in any group by any sport bike 600cc & up.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Roy darl......... you should learn to ride that bike , cant believe any sport bike 600 & up is overtaking you :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Nah mate, you will be right.

I sent your details to EC on the 2nd of May.
I got a confirmation email from EC today for all the riders and your name is on the list along with 15 other riders.
Buggered if I know why it took so long to get confirmation from them :confused1: :confused1:

I did fail to book one rider in for tomorrow and PAN is up to speed with the problem and he will sought it at the track in the morning.

Good to meet you Pan and a few other RATS today. Thanks for organising it- brought my times down from mid/high 2.20's last January to best of 2:9.99. Glad I went in B2 as did C in last session and most a bit slower. B2 group had a lot pass me but also passed a few. (Even Wayne Gardner passed me- not expected to be in B2!!) Hope to have the FZR600 up and running again for next one- Triumph went well though. All those going Sat- have a great day. Weather perfect:ayyy:

Pan I forgot to ask after your last outing where your brakes any better??

Because I'm a nice guy, go out & buy some motul brake fluid (it cost more but get dot 5 because it don't hurt paint & has a higher boiling point) & then come to my place & I will change your fluid for you. I have vaccume bleeder takes about 15 mins to do complete bike (if you don't know what a vaccume bleeder is, you hook it up to compressor & it just sucks out fluid, like a kid with a straw & a drink).

The 'cheeky bugger' who kept waving as he went past:ayyy: Yes- thanks for that!! I did improve my times- glad I didn't drop back to C group- makes you concentrate that much harder to break, turn in better etc. Trumpie a bit underpowered compared to some in a straight line, but having been to OP twice now, held a good pace through corners.

I had a great day. Mainly because I was still there at the end of it with an intact bike. It's great to see what happens after 11 in the morning which is usually when I'm on my way home having destroyed my bike.

Hopefully the new bike is going to reduce my crash rate. First day on it today and it was awesome. Can't wait for day two.

Thanks Pan for organising it and to the other RATS organisers for letting Pan sort it out. Hopefully the start of regular weekday track days.

See you tomorrow (those of you going back).

Thanks zRoyz. The brakes were better in the afternoon, but the motor kept spluttering, and I figured it's only happening when I'm low on fuel. Must be some gunk on the botton of the tank...

I might take you up on that offer in the next couple of weeks. How much Dot 5 do I buy?

Yes I too had a good day at the track, on and off. :mod_smilie_rockwoot
Definitely need to step up to slicks next track day, these things have no edge grip :( I was out of the seat in every session :wtf1: The front tyre is tearing now too and had a big faint feeling through T10 :eyecrazy: as you get off the gas, still cranked over to change direction for T11 .
In the fourth session, I moved into A group. Farrrrrrk those boys are fast  Had Gardner come around the outside of me at the end of T2. He made me paranoid, cos he was right beside me and I sort of lost focus and pushed him a little wide over the crease in the tarmac. Sorry Wayne :o Also had another very quick rider go down the inside of me at T1 and around the outside of another in the same turn. Mannnnn...you should of seen the lean angle he was carrying  very impressive. Mr Big reckons it was Russell Holland. These fast guys make it look sooooo easy even from the view point behind them mid corner. The lean angles and grip is amazing.
I'm now down to 1.50 but consistently in the 51's. I thought going into the faster group was supposed to make you faster, terminally. But all it did was made stay at that speed  . Where as in B group, times would fluctuate greatly (traffic). But nevertheless, was a fantastic experience seeing those boys at track level.
Big crash at T1 in the last session of A group. From the witness marks on the road, looks like a front end lose. Rider and bike did a few big cartwheels, according to my misses. All I saw half way down the straight was a massive dust cloud, like a bomb exploded. Apparently, rider got up and walk away...very quickly. :hatter:
Thanks for the enjoyable day fellas, your company was a pleasure Lets do it again....soon. :ayyy:
