At what point do u change your focus from the apex to looking through the corner especially on blind corners like some at Marulan?
If i try to look through too early i take the corner short and hit the ripple strip...
Help??
Cheers

You should be looking more at reference points, than at or through corner.
I thought the same too, untill JasonBW asked me what and were is my reference points, I looked at him and said, duhhhhhh :dohsmiley: :lmao:

Spot your mid point, when you KNOW you're going to hit it then dismiss immediately and look at your exit point/vanish point/next turn point etc.

hang on.. better way to tackle this...
What's the purpose of your mid point (apex) ? To get you right on it, correct? so does it make sence to linger looking at it for a while even though you know your on the right line? Nope? Why? because your sense of speed gets distorted when target fixing on an object moving close towards you... so what do you do with the throttle when your thinking your running out of room?
Assign each (true) turn a mid point, once you spot it and know your on the correct line, why bother looking at it... do you think you'll feel more comfortable getting on the gas once you know your on the right line if you look up at your next point (vanishing point or exit or even the next turn point)???
This is assuming you know where to look before turning in though... but you know that right? :)

So mid point as it the a spot on the apex?
So for example turn 2 at EC what do u use as a mid point (i am assuming a point on the track for this one) but then exit point/vanish point?
Cheers heaps

For the first time EVER on a track I can truly say that I rode using reference points at marulan. I knew where to tip in, where to be mid turn and on exit ... and each lap I experimented a little with them. I'm not saying I perfected them, but I was using 'em.
If you're anything like me, we pay 'lip service' to reference points but they're not really used much ... but dammit they're good :ayyy:

Cool Cap, I found Oran Park easier to 'map' than EC, shorter and better landmarks to remember.
Mr848, give me an example of a mid point you use?

That's my prob i think i forget about a mid point and just go from the turn in point to exit...or even worse on a short track the next turn in point...
So to be a real pest could you give me examples of all three points for purpose sake on turn 2 EC?

:D Nope... that's something you have to work out next time you're there.... my lines arent the same as yours and more importantly... you cant be spoonfed with stuff like this, it has to be earnt by your good self :ayyy:
Quite a few good reference points at OP, the retangle boxes on the ground after the bridge, turn 3... the right hand side box on the ripple strip turn 5... Thats what I used and found them great. I'm a track/riding newbie but they really helped :) It's just remembering them and finding something that was like 'ah!' when I went around...
Mr848, sounds like you need to do CSS L2, that's exactly what they cover there.
