View Full Version : Vermeulen 'has left Suzuki'
http://www.crash.net/motogp/news/151273/1/vermeulen_has_left_suzuki.html
“Chris has definitely left Suzuki MotoGP,” Vermeulen's manager Phil Baker told Crash.net. “It was felt that a change was needed as he wants to be running at the front for victories and feels that a change was his best chance of doing so - be that in MotoGP or WSB.”

Most logical place to end up.
All the best for him as well. Should provide some awesome racing :ayyy:

hopefully an outside chance of ending up at T3. I would like to see him stay in MotoGP.
But he definitely needs a change, he has been nowhere this year, not that the suzuki has been that good.

So can someone explain to me why he should move to SBK to be successful? Is it a lower grade of racing ... and if so, are we saying that he's not up to motoGP?
I'm concerned that he excels when it's raining, in case that means he's that type of rider (smooth), maybe too smooth. Rain is not simply the 'great leveller', often it suits one type of rider over another ... but for better or for worse it doesn't always rain.

I reckon its perceived by the dominant factory teams that better riders are at their disposal, therefore he won't get a competitive ride in GP and more likely to pick up a competitive ride in WSB's he was at his peak when he left WSB's and they will be crawling all over each other to get his signature.

Do you think he'll go back to the future with Ten Kate or stay Suzuki?

Traditionally WSBK has always been perceived as the poor cousin to MotoGP - not my opinion; they're simply different race categories and each has their merit - but based upon the fact that many MotoGP riders go to WSBK after their GP careers dry up and can still do well aids this perception (apart from Hopper..just can't get a break, can he?)
Vermeulen has been a hard rider for me to watch because it's so evident that he belongs in GP racing but simply doesn't have the package or the backing. I honestly think that he'd be competing with CE given the same bike. To me Suzuki don't seem to have their heart fully set on winning in GP racing, just like Kawasaki was.. Such a nice bloke and talented rider deserves to be on competitive machinery.

Wouldn't hurt to get that winning feeling back. If you can do in WSBK what Spies has been doing this season you may well get a decent ride in MotoGP?

I think Suzuki would have a sour taste in their mouth at the moment, so I can't imagine Chris riding a Suzuki in WSBK!
Plus... to have such a talented rider, proposing to ride for nothing to remain in MotoGP is a clear indication as to where he wants to achieve his success!
Get him on the Yammy and he'd be a regular on the podium for sure!

I hope he somehow ends up on a competitive bike. It would have to be very frustrating to always be let done by your bike (unless its raining haha)

But who can predict a particular manufacturer's fortunes? I'm thinking of the transition to 800cc with Honda, their RC211V was the bike to have; and yet the RC212V was initially not quite up with the front runners (after Brno, perhaps they still aren't).
Suzuki IIRC was getting some success with John Hopkins before he left for 'greener' pastures.. :ayyy:

To get a good ride you need one of two things Cappy, top finishes or good sponsorship dollars ,
If your bike isnt doing you any favours and the top rides are going with the new breed of big dollar 250 movers and shakers that have sponsors to boot you can hang on to your moto gp dream by makin up the numbers or head back wsbk or Europe and land a competitive ride with channels to come back with a team and budget to be at the pointy end .

I dunno how anyone can say "if CV goes to this bike or that bike he will be on top or on the podium for sure". That is pure crap. On the same bike he wasn't head and shoulders above Hopper and where is he in wsbk? Far too much involved in him being at the front on ANY bike regardless of how well anyone thinks that bike will do for him, it may, it may not. Time will tell, but even if he does go to wsbk, I highly doubt he will just take over where Spies will leave off. Biaggi did way better in Gp than CV ever has, how many wsbk titles has he won so far? and he's the KING of smooth
