Want to kick off my 'racing career' (more like racing loose-large-amounts-of-money) and want to know what a good time for something like a VFR400 at the Creek is or any other track?
I see them going alright and in A class on Ride Days every now and then.
I'm looking at entering the RB Imports 400 Series in 2008.
Cheers,
John

Didnt the RB Imports series stop a year ago?? Anyway, heres how to check.
Find out the series you want to run in, then find the results sheets on the web.. find the track, check the weather conditions for that day and you have a great guide.
I.e. If theres a 400 class in the ASC I'd get into www.formula-xtreme.com.au and look at their results.
Or go to St George MCC and look up theirs for the East Coast Road Race series (links probably off the www.circuitbreakers.com.au site)
Roughly speaking you should be able to lap under Stauffers record since its a lighter more nimble bike :)
Hope that helps and GOOD ON YOU for racing!!!

This should help too.
http://www.natsoft.biz/cgi-bin/results.cgi?2007
and to be right on the money, the 400cc ASC laptimes in qualifing.
http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results.cgi?11/02/2007.RRT.Q2
So anything on 2 min will get you racing but at the back, 1:50 will get you mid pack and 1:45 at the very front (in Fine and Dry conditions at Eastern Creek)
You're doing 1:55's currently, so expect to be in around 20th place, but I hear as soon as you start racing you learn so much so quickly that the fast guys pull you a good few seconds... so maybe mid pack straight away... not bad !

Jason you ripper! Thanks alot for that!
I thought they were going much quicker.
I've got Superbike School level 2 next Friday boo ya! (I have read your thorough report so I'm bound to take more in now, thanks again to you)
Also, doing ride days with RATS and not alone, I'm bound to get more tips now *Thumbs up*

More than welcome buddy, thats what this site is about.
Hey, as I think Kat00 suggested give us a write up of how you found L2.
If I had my time again I think I would have sat down after each session and read those quotes they give you in the booklet and written down stuff to help it bed in into my thick head.
Other than that CSS say you should just focus on the one task they give and ride around 5/10ths to give you heaps of attention free for the task. Easy to say, hard to do :)
Most importantly... Have fun :)

Sounds easier than it is to get those times guys. Getting under 1.50 at the creek is not an issue, it's getting those last 3 or seconds that makes the difference.
EC - As mentioned 45's will have you running at the front 5 or 6 riders. Lap record is around a high 1.43. Normal times for mid pack are from 48's upwards & you will gain a second or 2 when racing from being able to chase the guy in front easier & also adrenalin.
Oran Park - Quick guys run under 1.20 on the GP track. Last meeting there I noticed they dont use the bus stop after turn 3 which is why they were running in the high 1.16's. Mid pack will be around 1.23 and up.
Wakefield Park - Quick guys are down to 1.06's & 1.07's. Mid pack will be around the 1.10 mark.

A few 400 racing sites to check out. Drop in & see Geoff at RB Imports, Taren Point for more info on racing them. 400's are there bread & butter & even though the RB series ins't running they are still highly involved in running the 400 classes.
Also drop out to Oran Park this Sunday for the ride day, will be at least one CBR400 putting around.

When my RVF got tuned, harley (RB Imports) said he can do 45's on the yellow and green bike. But the owner is a touch slower and still learning.
One good thing he mentioned, my bike is only 3 hp behind their race bikes, where they have a built engine, gearing + Usuals
When I sell the RVF I might buy a CBR400 track bike, looks like a lot of fun with an unlikly chance of death.
I heard the NSW Titles just seen a low 41 on a 400! I might be wrong but, so dont quote me.

Harley has been punting his cb400 around a long time & knows EC inside out. lap record is still a 1.43 as far as I know. As mentioned anybody lapping at a
1.45 at EC is in the top rung of 400 riders, some of who go onto bigger & better things

Maybe it was 43. After I posted it I was sure the record was 43 but CBF'd checking or editing
My bad

im sure i was racing an rgv that weekend there. the two gobert brothers were doing a fraction slower than him on aprillia rs 250's. i thought they were doing 1.40 something (under 1.41) and everyone couldnt believe he was still hosing them.(but somedays i dont remember what i had for brekky so it might not have been that weekend)
p.s they have geronomis lap record wrong too, i think he done a 1.33.9 too
