james announced today that he is lookin for a crowd for his race series on may 20th. he is letting us watch for $5 each. sounds like a bargain to me...
so we figured seeing he looks after us so good, we would try to get a crowd together for him and his sponsers. me and kellz and cody will go along and watch. you just need to ring 49963120 and talk to lyndel. let them know ya do track days with circuit breakers and ya want some $5 tickets for the race day...its a sunday. he said sumthin about superbikes being there to:D
ill start a list and we could do a picnic or sumthin and a bit of a gathering goin. or whatever..this is at ORAN PARK for those who werent sure:D...
im just awaiting a reply from james as to how exactly we book these tickets so ill keep yous updated.

also. with it being oran park you can walk down through the pits talk to the guys and girls. i usually marshall and scrutineeer these bikes and there is sone trick machinery down there.. always good for a gander and you will find most of the guys and girls are only to happy to have a quick chat inbetween sessions.

Yeah I'm allready listed to be a flagiel. Lyndel still needs more volunteers if anyone else wants to wave flags at crashed bikes, much to the dismay of riders who like to think their racing in motoGP and the martials are allowed onto the track to help them :confused1:
Those that are martials, if your not allready aware their is NO SHELTER at OP for the flagies so bring a hat, sunscreen etc. :(

I glad this got a bump, will remind my assistant that this is on. Do we still have to call Lyndell, or can we p/u tix at the gate
dungbeetle
15-05-2007, 03:33 PM
well if you and liz follow mick and matt in the gate then you will get in for nuthin. each marshall gets a mate in free. but if ya wish to pay, i have to email lyndal a list.

well i managed to drag my sorry arse out of bed and we headed up to oran park. awesome weather and the racing was pretty good to. caught up with bart and his son dillan and hung out with them for the arvo, and after doin a lap of the pits and running into a few familiar faces. hey jungleboy. we headed off to do a lap of the track and catch up with some of these marshals. kellz took us on the scenic tour of oran, telling us she knew exactly where she was goin!! so we politely followed. we got around to turn 3 and spotted vinnie waving his flags over in the middle of no where on his own!! after a quick fone call and a wave we pressed on. then we came across wiccad and wayne at turn 2 who had the best shady spot on the track!! and the best veiw to i reckon. had a qik chat with them and pressed on.
thats when the tour got interesting. we went thru a locked gate, another locked gate, and started to head out onto the track. deciding that wasnt gonna be a good idea, we turned around and headed for the paddock. lukkily there was no bulls or anything in the paddock, but lotsa weeds and farmers friends. we pressed on thru th epaddock, being told there is a way out just up here!! well eventually we found a hole in the fence, and rolled kellz under there!!:O the rest of us got thru and we trudged up thru some old creek and wasteland and into the back of the pits. after having missed 6 races!!!:(
anyway we couldnt find matt, but he was somewhere on turn one. and heard one of the races james wasd in. he was somewhere up the front runners.
was a great day and id definately recommend it to family or everyone. everyone is friendly, its cheap and interesting, and if ya wanna marshall its free!!:D ill be marshalling from now on, if i can kick this damned flu!!:(
MATTK6
20-05-2007, 07:32 PM
you prob missed me cause i was wearing a hat dungy:lmao:
so yeah, i missed dungy and bart cause they apparently walked straight passed me a few times, and the next marshalling i do will NOT be on the straight, as there is nowhere to sit, no smoking, and no shade, so i managed to get myself burnt a little, but all in all, i would recomend going out to watch and support the races to anyone and everyone:ayyy:

That was a different way to spend a day out on the track.Weather was good, racing even better .After receiving about an hour lesson on how to wave the flags and communicate on the two way i was left on my own for the day.
So for the hole day i watched some top riders handle turn 3 in so many different ways. One guy on a R1 would come into turn three sideways with the rear wheel skipping on the road sounding like a 747 coming into land:confused1:.He won every race he was in.
It was a good way to spend the day and i'm looking forward to July for the next series at EC.

Tracey & I headed up there after lunch for a few hours. Arrived as they were cleaning up after a spill the the ladies race. Was quite serious so I hope the young lady is ok.
Watched the 400's go around (was smiling at the lap times they were doing :mod_smilie_rockwoot ), supersports, A&B grade superbikes, and then the C&D grade superbikes. Jai had some misfortune on the first lap but soldiered on till it looks like a mechanical problem forced him to pit.
Spent the afternoon up in the control tower with the commentator (Fezzick, an Illawarra Riders member & also a RAT). Great viewing from up there, you can see the whole track bar for the dip down into turn 12.
Had a nice ride both up & home via all the roads out the back of Picton, The Oaks etc though most are in need of a lot of work.
Thanks to James for supplying the days entertainment. :ayyy:

I got there just as they were cleaning up the crash in the ladies race, went for a wander, found no one, went and sat in the grandstand, watched some of the races, i reckon we could be contenders in a few of the classes come next season.
Hey Vinnie, that bloke skipping his back wheel into 3, i think it was Murray Clarke, in the tatty old looking "Budget" leathers, he was doing the same thing down the dip into 12.
Oh and seeing a SuperMotard power wheelie onto the straight in the BEARS F1-F2 race was pretty good, especially seeing as he came 4th.
Was a great way to spend an arvo thats for sure....i wanna go racing now

Under the rules of Supersport/Superstock they have to use treaded tyres so yep, mighty impressive stuff and consistently so for the time I was at 3.
Don't know if these guys got into the 1.11 as that was the realm of the MV boys but they were cutting aroun 1.13 from memory (heard commentary say something about it).

Brendan Clark on the MV did a few 1.11's (best of 1.11.5) in the Superbikes while John Allen ran a 1.11.9 in the Bears.
The Supersports were running high 1.14 (Goldsmith) upwards according to the Natsoft timing.
