Hey guys I want to get a lap timer and was looking at this one, I want to purchase it Wednesday or Thursday, in other words - ASAP!
Saw a couple of guys with one at Oran on Sunday, anyone else keen or know someone I should contact for a cheaper price?

I see it has the on bike transponder but does it come with the thing that sits beside the track ?

Yeh it does. Reciever and display go on the bike and a Transmitter unit for the side of the track.
So far I'm getting prices of:
-$449 for non back lit battery powered
-$475 for back lit which requires it to be wired into your bike battery
I'm inclined to go for non lit and battery power for easy install / removal process.
Those prices are the same from 5 stores so they're all just going off RRP. I have another mate 100%, so that's 2 units, the more units the more bargaining power I'll have muhaha
I will keep this open till the end of today because I really want on for this Saturday!

Backlighting might be a pain for using battery power or having to hook up to your electrics... but ask the guys who have them if they can actually see their laptime without the backlighting... maybe that'll make the difference for you ?

The backlighting shouldn't be needed because you look at your times in the pits not on the track :ayyy:
Have you bought yours yet because I want one :mod_smilie_rockwoot

yeh that is the same one i have. its awesome, and for $399 grab it cause thats a bargain. we did a group buy with a gvuy from the states and only got them here a couple dollars cheaper than that!!
also the battery powered one does the job. thats what i have and its handy if ya change bikes. but the other guys have the 12v timers, so if ya dont mind wiring then pay a little extra and grab that!!
also thay all can use the one trans[ponder so we only put one on pit wall at op to keep everyone timed.

hmm can you set up a few beacons around the tracks to give split times ?
Jordan
01-05-2007, 07:16 PM
yes, yes you can.

that would be much better than just straight out lap times... you can really see the areas in which you need to pick up your game etc ;) ie T9 @ OP... go around it.... there is no shortcut there.... trust me i checked thoroughly!

it's all good, it'd be alright to know what the split times are, but i'll be happy just to get the overall times lower

Personally I would go with the 12V one. You'll never run out of batteries (you won't need it if you do), it's back lit for ease of viewing and it's got only two lousy wires that you connect across your battery. It's piss easy to install.
I'm going to try to install it tomorrow.
Is it water-proof? Can I leave it on the bike all the time if I secure it properly?

Mine has been rained on a few times and it still works great. I don't see why you can't leave it on your bike all the time.
Thanks BD. I just sent the manufacturer an email too. If they tell me otherwise I'll let you know!

yeh i pulled mine off when it was raining but im not sure either way.
The manufacturer said "it is water resistant, but not water proof", so as long as your bike doesn't end up in a lake it'll be okay!

and if it is in a lake, the least of your worries will be your transponder !
