As Clarkey has said Maheimfowles and http://www.pickles.com.au/

Both are known for damaged bikes. Manheim has more frequent auctions and are better run. However Pickles pictures and details are better in my opinion.

I have bought 3 bikes now from Manheim (one was when it was previously known as Fowles). They have a shit way of doing the bikes in that they are either last or in the middle of the auction so you have either wait around all day or approximate when to show up.

'Good' auction houses? :lmao:

They are all out to make a quick buck > my only advice is to research the FUK out of any bike you're considering buying.....so many ppl get trapped (particularly by Fowles/Manheim) because they don't list if it's got a KEY and if you don't have a key on these new bikes you're screwed > UNLESS you get it MEGA cheap.

More recently (last 3-6 months) Clemmo from DataFlowRacing and myself have been hunting for race bikes and the prices some of the ppl are paying are CRAZY! I'm talking for a 07 GSXR600 with busted sump/fairings/NO Comp Plate AND no key was sold for $7500 PLUS auction fee's etc etc.....talked to the guys (a bunch of lebanses guys) and they said I quote 'But they didn't tell me it didn't have a key or Compliance plate.....you said how much for a key/ECU etc...1500! AND NO C/Plate so can't be registered........

The guy cancelled his bid (and lost his $500 deposit) being that this is the bike we wanted for racing we went back up the following month when it was re-auctioned, another day off work, another $200 in fuel from Canberra etc etc and we talked to every single person looking at the bike and advised what we knew - no key/C.P etc - NO ONE at the auction on the day bid for it so we thought we'd get it until the ONLINE bidders fuked us - again they paid well over 6K and wouldn't have known it's history........

Through Cunningstunts I've attended lots of auctions for stunt bikes over the years - finding a 600 for less than 3K used to be easy as >not so these days. Ppl are rocking up expecting a test ride, that when they finalise the auction they can pick up the keys and ride it away!!! :lmao: just doesn't work that easily....I've not seen a bike I thought was any good go for the $$ it should've - extensively damaged bikes still going for 7-10K > it just does not make any sense.......

Still worth a shot, don't let me dissuade you but you might be disapointed when ppl just keep bidding for bikes that just aren't worth it......

all the best (pretty sure I covered this in another thread) yes I did.....where it reads in the thread about the damaged Yammie I was really talking about the GSXR above, I was trying to be a bit coy and not point out anyone who may have bought that actual bike.....

I think it's just a Sydney thing. Dog eat dog, Too many people to bid them up so they don't miss out. I would research the prices in Qld . They declare them write offs then sell them for a few grand under new price, It's bullshit

Theres bargains to be had still, just got to look for them.

Here, an 08 ZX6R for $4500, and you can get it cheaper than that still, SW but hell, would make a great tracky..

I just pick up my 4th action bike - had to go to 3 different auctions to get it

1) Milperia listed as Write Off withdrawn on day
2) Milperia listed as Write Off went to $3,100 and sold - so I thought - I would spend no more than $3,000 - wasted 2 hours waiting for auction to start on bikes
3) Smithfield now a Stat Write Off - got it for $2,650

Traps
1) RTA charges $400 to approve re-registration of Write Offs
2) Bits go missing between auction and pickup (lost a front blinker on this bike) - so take photos of what you are buying
3) Some things are a LOT worse than they look - cracked engine mounts

motorcycle disposals is a good way to go about it, but you pay a bit more.
