I picked up my bike from Terry on Friday, and had the first hitout yesterday (in what turned out to be glorious weather). What an amazing job Terry did!!! The bike is transformed into a weapon!! It went from a bike with no grip to a planted, sorted, well behaved and FAST bike. Both front and rear felt awesome. I dropped 8 seconds of what the bike would do before Terry weaved his magic, and there's plenty more to come once I work out how to ride it!
I strongly recommend Terry for great results, awesome service that went above and beyond, and being an all around top bloke.

Stiffer front springs, forks rebuilt to top spec (changed oil level etc), and revalved and worked magic on the rear shock (no spring change required for the rear). The rear just works so well now!! You can feel it coping with the bumps soooo much better, and the drive out of corners is without squat or wallowing now. It's awesome the change in the bike.

Outstanding Marshy (& Terry), without getting into the "which guru should I choose" debate I reckon Marshy just shown us that this is a priority for us track riders... get the suspension sorted.... we're doing a risky sport and with a shithouse suspension setup it makes it that much more riskier... spend the $$ and get the suspension done guys... might even get the benefit of faster laps like Marshy here.

if i got 8 sec improvement over my current stock suspension i'd run a 33 at EC, reckon terry could hook my up? :)

Suspension should be the first thing you get sorted (well, the second, after flashy leathers). Even if you just set it up for your weight as the bare minimum, it's amazing how many people you speak to who are riding theit bikes "the way they came from the shop".

i will do suspension b4 power, still got stock pipes and stuff.

So are you now faster on the Blade over the Suzuki you had ?
Interesting to see if the more CC's has made any difference ?

Maybe they've missed it until now :D
Seriously, it's just my opinion as a new customer. I'd hate to think the forum didn't support free speech.

No Oggy, I'm still 2 secs slower than the mighty Suzi (quick bike, that. Colin is kickin' on it), but I'm convinced the 1000 has more potential. If I'm not quicker second day out on the 1000, I'll be disappointed and surprised. Each session was 1-2 secs faster, so I'd expect the improvement to continue....

(well, the second, after flashy leathers)
& buying some product to keep them clean.........if they are the new BLACK Captain:ayyy:
Had suspension done in a very similar way although by a different supplier.
Suspension and the right rubber (or is it silica compound these days!!) makes a huge difference.

Good to hear.... My 05 Blade has stock suspension on it... Nice to think I could have 8 seconds in there somewhere.... I got WP in the Harris, Ohlins going in the Elsie, a Penske in the 08 blade, yet the trackie has a stocker.... go figure.... lol
Posts arent edited or deleted by the RATS mods her unless they contain insulting or litigeous comment... or really stupid remarks.... :ayyy:

I'm pleased that you had such a startling result. The motor in that bike is very impressive and will certainly take some getting used to. Glenn Allerton (who worked on your bike) was pretty confident that your bike was built by Geoff Winzer, although he had never seen those fork cartridges before.
Nice pick up. Sometimes the secondhand market can yield some great bargains. Thanks for the kind words.

No the "fascist" regime is still here.
Members can say whatever they want about a good experience they have have had with anyone and that is vital.......So I fail to see how a member could be edited stating that.
I apologize Marshy for hijacking your thread but not copping the spray.

stop the b@lls&$t..
it was one of my first posts on here.
Someone asked which suspension guru to see in sydney, I think my comment went along the lines of:
"mate, give Terry Hay a call, he has done 2 of my bikes and I am very happy with the result and he charges reasonable prices, his workshop is out at Wallacia"
its clear why it got edited, I have heard you have a commercial agreement with another suspension tech in Sydney..

My 2 cents, the site doesn't run itself, it needs people to give up their time and energy, plus people who will pay for commercial opportunity on the site.
I guess the alternative would be paid membership. either by donation or subscription.
Frankly I'm just bloody happy the site exists from a resource point of view, plus I have had the opportunity to meet and connect with people that otherwise I may have never met. I feel richer for the experience
I believe Mick should be given a slap on the back, not a jab in the face.

enough money would be made to cover expenses with profit from trackdays and merchandise.
if businesses are willing to put up cash for advertising, thats fair enough. but if its restricting freedom of speech, the site and its members would suffer.

Look like Wattie you need to open a thread for yourself instead of infecting what WAS to be a decent thread that could have made some difference, back to topic now.
Hope the mods clean this up anywa cause its nothing to do with the original intent
CONGRATULATIONS to you Marshy, friggin HUGE improvement in laptime!!!! Roll on St George next year!!

yeah credit to those who run a great site, I dont think anyone disputes that...
However people should be allowed to post their opinion harmlessly I should think.
but no doubt a great site, Ill let it go now, it was a year or so ago..but it did shit me at the time.
And I could use 8 seconds, however I think I just need to HTFU..

If I remember the thread you're referring to, it wasn't quite that way, there was a lot more than simply someone reporting back that they had received good service. Like Kat00 said, why would something like that be deleted? Don't tell me that people aren't free to express their opinions here, we've all been on other forums and seen the mods at work, there's very little that is not allowed on RATs.
Anyhow, let's move on; suspension work seems to raise passions, with as many negative experiences as there are positives ... from all suppliers. This tells me that there's probably a lot of misunderstanding on our part, and the more we educate ourselves on the subject the better.

Well i went and seen terry myself today and again the improvement is unbelievable on the already great Race Tech suspension valving not only did he give it a little tweak but also done the fix on the stock ohlins damper. It was a great ride home down the old road thanx terry..

obviously different bikes/riders will require different treatment, but as a rough guide what did that cost that you had done, if you don't mind saying?

Fork me, the jokes are getting more shocking each post!.
U guys that are track day junkies should play with ur suspension settings each session, write ur settings down, worse or better, what was the bike doing etc. Suspension is not a dark art, break it down to basics, think of the words, Preload, rebound, compression & damping. What do they mean? read ur owners manual on how to adjust ur suspension and what screws, knobs etc do what! put it into practice and have a play, stock suspension on some of today's bikes is good enough for most riders and remember, just like the engine, suspension needs to be serviced too. Suspension Guru's like Terry, or Zeno or Shaun @ SOS are the ones to talk too when servicing is due or u have outridden the stock suspension or u want to upgrade to something trick. Have a go, u may be pleasantly surprised.
Cheers,
Tex & Bundy

Sooooo good information... some people might not realise this info right here could save them many $$$ and maybe even more than just $$!
Arm yourselves with a good template for the data you record here:
http://www.feelthetrack.com/docs.htm
Use a trusty and reliable pressure gauge and if you feel so inclined even head to Bunnings and pick up a reasonable yet low cost (under $30) pyrometer.
And even if you're not interested in having an easier ride, or saving yourself from crashing, or even reducing laptimes, you have to ask yourself do you value your money? Cause if you haven't had your suspension sorted by a professional then you're probably chewing your tyre up at an alarming rate.... are tyres expensive?
P.s. After your suspension is sorted and a mate pulls up showing off with all the rubber snot he's collecting off the edge of his tyre you can smile and know theres a reason why your tyres no longer look like that.
