EICMA is only the biggest and most important motorcycle show in the world Johnny :ayyy:
It's rigged of course, they're supporting Ducati but people are stupid enough that an award like this will actually make a significant difference to sales. What bullshit though; if this bike received the majority of the visitors' votes, why are the Italian forums and blogs mocking the result?

To the motorcycling community / industry. It's often when many new models are released, where the dealers (and various other industry players) come together. Two days are exclusively for the media and industry.
It's certainly NOT the only event ... there's the Aussie motorcyle show on too :D but it's the single biggest event for the industry.

Here is the website: http://www.eicma.it/moto/en/default.aspx

Walking around the six packed halls of the EICMA motorbike show, it is possible to hear different language from all over the world, a sign that confirms the global appeal for the Milan show.

Most visitors are from Italy but there are also motorbike fans and business clients from German, France, Switzerland, Austria and across Eastern Europe. Many exhibitors are from China, Japan, Taiwan, the USA and India, but as the motorbike and accessories market evolves, there are also companies from smaller countries, looking to expand their business.

1341 brands from 31 different countries are on show this year, with 54% of them from outside of Italy, making the EICMA show a melting pot for the world of two wheel business.

Just out of curiosity, what bike should have won it?

No idea ... most people are saying the Aprilia RSV4R is the best looking bike there.
The multistrada has certainly captured people's imagination with it's multi-settings (see the youtube promo video) which promises to change the bike from an off-road tourer to a track bike. Don't know how effective it can be, but it seems to be a marketing masterstroke.

I just came back from EICMA.. i can tell you the Ducati stand was packed every day, almost impossible to get up close to the Multi on occasions.. it has it's errr.. downsides.. and is not the most attractive bike, but is a big step for Ducati technically for a road going bike... this thing packs more gizmo's and technology than anything before it.,. ride by wire throttle, ABS, DTC, electronic adjustable suspension, GPS, etc etc etc list goes on.. will post some more pics next week...
