How do others handle this?

I called up to add the bike to the Roam account and they guy told me putting a tag on the bike was a bad idea (agreed) and that I could use the M7 and it would be deducted automatically.

He then said that when I use the M4 and M5 (what I mainly use) i would get a letter in the mail and would have to manually apply the charge to the account (and the $10 processing fee would be removed)

What do you guys do? I don't wanna have to apply each and every one to the account each time.

My bike rego is listed on my e-tag account.

On the M5 I just ride around the boom gate, I figure they must take a photo. I have never had a letter sent, they just deduct it from my account.

Esra,
you have a valid and operational E-Toll account, have it recorded against your rego plate.

It is the providers responsibility to ensure they're billing you accordingly. Not yours.

Is roam account RTA or another company? I know RTA processes everything automagically without any need for paperwork.

I thought it was auto, just checking what you guys do.

I use it about 4 times a week so I'll know for sure pretty quickly.

Thanks.

I have an Eway tag and my bike rego is recorded with Tollway so I never carry a tag on the bike, it's too easy.

I don't carry one, just go past the boom, my rego plate is registered with them but more for using the tunnel, bridge etc

You can get a smaller bike tag that slips into a wetsuit type pocket with a magnet that stick's it to the tank.....The have them on the Etag site....Thats what i use...Put it under the seat when I get to my destination so nobody flog's it...........

I have my tag under the back seat, seems to work, either that or they read my rego which is linked to my account. Never received any paper notice.

Use the M5 everyday to and from work. Haven't paid the toll on that for nearly 5 years.

Stay in the right E-Tag Lane (not the toll booth lanes), as you go through the underpass, you will see where they have cut the concrete/asphalt to put in the sensors. Of which there will be 3 in quick succession. Between the white lane marking on your left and the sensor, you’ll have about a foot or so of space to avoid hitting the sensor.

Next time, just try going down this lane…drop down to the listed 70km limit, and you should easily see what I’m talking about.

I can vouch for the above. Works on the M4, Harbour Bridge and the ED as well.

Otherwise you can ride around the automatic boom gates (it doesn't take a photo). Just don't do it at the manned ones, you'll make them cranky.

Of course if you want to play nicely with the RTA E-tag you can list you bike's rego against your account and they just deduct the right amount from your account.

Is the HB and ED set up the same way as the M5? can the same technique be used?
Such a rip off to pay $5 to use the ED.

i use rta e toll, and just go through. Then they send me a letter and I jump online to enter my tag details as payment.. On M7 and M2 they deduct automatically without sending letter..

can vouch for the m5,, have seen the sensors on the road, also i have heard they dont have rear facing cameras there. only front, but unsure. Though in saying that i have ridden the m5 without paying many times. Not my fault they did not think when installing them. Though ive tried to sit on different areas on the other roads without any luck. You could go as far as using one of your feet to cover it, though try that at your own risk.

heard the new etag things they have up in brisbane (goVia) can be used on any toll road in australia... does anyone know if that's true? I just normally ride through on the white line, can't do it up here but never got busted in sydney or melbourne.

All tags are meant to be linked. I know our RTA issued ones work in VIC and QLD and as I understand it there was an agreement reached a few years ago that all tags would work on all tolls
