I have a question & dont mind firing it off to CB if no answer here.

I'm not real happy with the fact James told us at race school we could have transfer (he said transfer & there was a class room full of people that heard that, a transfer is a completely different word to discount), now I know the rain policy so thought wow a major bonus thanks James. I took up that offer & was I think second person to hand in my race lic etc early in moring.

Now as told later above would only be a discount if I booked again July race school which wasn't what I was told siting in the class room. I was told you could transfer to July race school, but July only.
I don't wish to do another race school in July because the risk of rain is just to great for the amount you pay.

Has there been a discount offered for a track day booking or can I just give my July race school discount to somebody paying full price because I'm nice??

jasonbw
07-06-2007, 03:41 PM
- Not speaking for the RATS at all here, just a thought -

If James said that, especially in a way which made you decide to hand in your license and not ride that day, then Id have to say he should stick to his word of transferring the day... you'd have to call James.. 9557 1088

If he hadnt of said Transfer then I would guess you would have held the license in case it improved right?

Can you let us know for interests sake?

kellz
07-06-2007, 04:01 PM
i think the discount if for guys who stayed teh whole day but wanna do it again to get a full day on teh track etc...

jasonbw
07-06-2007, 04:04 PM
There you go, thats the likely scenario, sounds like you have nothing to lose, if it rains then your no worse off.

zRoYz
07-06-2007, 04:14 PM
I'm not to stressed about it because I won't have track bike for the date as I have 3 bikes all in a different state of togetherness :(

I don't mind if somebody goes the extra mile & either gets a free spot or discount on me (whoever it is will have to buy me a  ) you have my blessing to go forth & ask :lmao:

jasonbw
07-06-2007, 04:41 PM
Actually this can be done!!

jasonbw
07-06-2007, 04:45 PM
Righto, you have the ability to nominate a RAT (only a RAT as James said he's let that slide) for the discounted rate of $215... so I guess have a look-see at the list of people going and flip a coin :)

dungbeetle
07-06-2007, 05:05 PM
there ya go.....i agree with ya roy that it did sound like he meant that july would be free...but you know as well as i do that it wasnt gonna happen!!
up to you if ya wanna ring him and work sumthin out...
as for your spot being transferred to someone else. well i guess james has agreed to that to, but what a pain in the ass to pick the person now as we have 5 rats paying $265!!:(

zRoYz

Ok seeing you did the leg work you can have the discount, first in first serve its just to hard any other way. I would rather it work out this way & helps James a little & the RATS a little so we have a great rep as fair people. I'm happy with that out come & will still be doing many a CB day :ayyy:

jasonbw can just buy all the others paying full price a beer some time :P

jasonbw
07-06-2007, 05:10 PM
Well excellent, how about I make it a little more fair... when you next do a CB day I'll pay you what I just gained.... that way we keep it local and no-one is disadvantaged.. sure James is fine with that... the day was $265 so thats $50 I'll put into the RATS account on the next James Spence RACE school you go to.

As the possible only RATS member there, it was a great morning, pissing rain (sound familiar) miserable people everywhere and not much track action happening. We did get out on the track about 10ish, set some blistering speeds. I think the group, including Magoo and Allerton managed 1 lap in about an hour.....what a lovely walk, in the pissing rain. But I learnt a bit from the walk.

The ARDC in their generosity said they would postpone the day due to the weather and gave us the option of 2 other days to choose from, for the low low price of just $150. So now this race school will have cost me $530 plus fuel. Mmmmm should i take the chance on another washed out race school, or just invest in a track day and have some fun.

 , tell them yes, you'll take it, but you book for spring or summer time , if they say it can be only for winter period, thell them to @#$% OFF !!!

Fuck thats harsh.

I have decided to rock up on the day until the weather is more predictable.

Problem is I dont think its possible to do this for circuit breakers or css...

if you getthere early enough you should be OK, as long as it ain't booked out completely, but knowing Jimmy, he'll take your money regardless. LOL

race school is always booked out a week or 2 before!!

Poyda
09-07-2007, 09:57 PM
I'm going to type up an email in the next few days asking James what we can do in regards to the ongoing situation. I'm sure that having paid for 3 days and having no ride time justifies a bit of special attention, and seeing as funds are so limited my track time is now more important than ever. I might even try and postpone it until a later date when the weather SHOULD be on my side, but Murphy's law is always a factor. Maybe if i just settle for this next one i'll ask for personalised tuition from Magoo and Allerton, i reckon that would be enough

jasonbw
09-07-2007, 11:05 PM
Can I play devils advocate for a sec... I wasnt there so this is a genuine question, if you had wet weather tyres or at least street tyres could you have ridden during those three days? or was it just that bad that no-one went out? (that is assuming you had slicks?)

Poyda
10-07-2007, 04:07 PM
It went to a vote, if you had wets/street tyres, and wanted to stay and get in maybe a 2 hour session, then that would happen, if you had slicks, like me, then you could rebook. The mob voted rebook.

zRoYz
10-07-2007, 04:43 PM

The little problem is the rebook is a piss fart discount & as you do have to gamble with the weather due to high cost of a school I think its better to cut your loses & run. Winter months the odds aren't in your favor so to risk a school cost during these months means your not using your head. It rains in summer correct but the out side air temp is also 10 deg higher so track surface temp isn't like ice & if small none rain periods track drys very quick.

Operators can't just offer up replacement days because they still have there costs rain/hail & shine & if they don't make money we lose the events altogether. I do feel a smart operator due to high cost of school would say offer a 1/2 price track day if event rained out so people will take more of a risk when booking knowing they will still get some track time, which is what its about more than anything else.

I will not ride on a wet track even if I had rain tyres because I have no interest to race so learning how to go fast in the wet is usless to me. I go to the track to be a bloody hoon in a safe environment & for that I need a dry track.
