Just installed my Carbon Speed 4 Cell Battery today.

Thought I would post up a couple of photo's - 300 grams..........amazing

I owe a great deal of thanks to Adam - getting them became a bit of a saga.

Don't know if I should wrap the electrical tape around the terminals, just see like the common sense thing to do. Also used the hi-density block foam to hold it in place although is does come with heavy duty velcro.

Cheers Fog

How much weight does it save?
I reckon you could have saved as much simply by eating less for lunch :lmao:

Normal Battery around 3.5kgs................funny you mentioned that I have lost 6 kgs in the last two weeks (eating like a sparrow) now to shrink my head!!! Anyone know a tribal witchdoctor??

Also they state that if used correctly it will only lose 1% of charge over a year

Yeah ..... Jase once again causing trouble .

I also installed one of these batteries but unfortunatley whilst waiting for it to arrive I think I added all the weight savings of it to my gut (time for the exercise bike and the BMX to get brought out again) . I might need a new suit too .

Very cool. Is there a big cost difference between this and a "normal" size battery?

So that has 4 cells yeh?
I've got the Ripperton special in the blade - weighs about 700 grams (8 x A123s).

But....I wanted to get a battery for the SP1 as well - not sure if a 4 cell will crank a twin OK?
How does yours crank over? OK?

Mate hit the button and fires up in an instant, guess time will tell how it performs

What I do not understand is why these are not fitted to standard bikes if they perform the same..

I know Honda went Anal with lightening everything, to the point of putting a small (standard type battery) in it... too small in fact as they say turn it on and start the bugger...dont leave it just turned on !!!

These must be much cheaper to buy, fit and are miles lighter so where is the catch ?????

Oggy that's a very relivent point, I can only assume that it could be a supply issue. Now that the standard batteries are lead free, they don't last as long and are prone to losing their charge. So the lithium dry would be an obvious natural progression

Ripperton has a vid of one off his 4 cel's cranking over a 6 cil Falcon. I think a 4 cel will be fine in a Twin.

as long as the amp hour rating is the same you should have no worries at all cranking over a high comp v twin

Jase loving the look of that, not the battery brother, stator and rectifier on the bike. Weavell was right he had the same model as a tracky and his went at 50,000kms mine went at 52,000kms. Got the replacement second hand, all good. Are you out there on the 20th??

Just thought I would do an update.........my Stator went last Monday during Session 4, it also seemly fried the new Carbon Speed Battery........bugger
So I got my bike back yesterday with a re-wound stator $227 as opposed to nearly $800 new, and had on Carbon Speed Battery on my 3.5amp trickle, the good news its its back from the dead.

I have ordered another one from the States, I may just keep it as a back up or may offer it up for sale.

Cheers Fog
