:ayyy:;)Test rode one today, fucking awesome. They do everything and at warp speed. Quick shift is unbelievable, handling brilliant, brakes excellent. Made my blade feel like a dinosaur. Do yourselves a favor and ride one, you'll love it. I went through corners on the Oxley faster than I've ever done and it was just so stable, I need new fucking scrapers. Wooooo! I want one. And yeah, I love it if you can't tell. DO IT! They are the goods, best bike I've ever ridden. BMW should give me one after this writeup. Haaa!

It looks like everyone in the free world (except from Devlish) think they are the ducks guts. I'd love to ride one myself to see what all the fuss is about.

No Doubt. He doesn't get it. But he did chose a nice bike after all was said and done. Just not nearly as smooth. Coulda been because the Beamer didn't fit his freeakishly large frame?

I rode the S1000RR and loved the ever living dog shit out of. It was dizzying power delivered as smooth as a hand job from baby-oil soaked silk glove...

My RC8 gives that kinda power-thrill, but it feels like you're getting donkey-punched by Hell-Boy.

i have no doubt it's the best 1000cc on the market. No doubt at all. Just not the best bike for me. I seem to find alot of faults with it, maybe it's just my size causing the faults... who knows...

They go for like $22k=$23k I think (or somewhere there abouts).

BMW's pricing strategy is consistent (and has little to do with development and build cost). BMW prices just above the "fat middle" of the market (in this regard the fireblade, R1 and GSXR1000 - which all go for just about $20k). By pricing just a couple grand above that, they can pick off a large chunk of this big market, but still maintain the "premium" image of the brand/product.

If I were to buy one, I'd go to ProCycles (St Leonards or Hornsby). My personal recommendation would be to go to Hornsby because you've got a RAT in the sales department there, and another RAT in the service department. You know they'll take care of another RAT.

PM "DEVILISH" if you want to actually talk to those guys.

Not just Devlish, I rode one 3 weeks ago with my 2 team mates from the 6 hour, we went along with the sole intent of getting one for this years 6 hour.

For a start I hate riding on the road with a passion at the best of times and secondly I had to ride between two bike shop employees, thirdly the route didnt really have any decent corners so I wont pass judgement on the handling.

So the only thing I can judge the bike on is general feel and accelleration to be fair I didnt really get to seriously open it up (no more than 11k) But below this if felt like absolute crap, like a strangled 600.

Im not really a fan of all the electronic interferance, whether it be abs, traction control or wheelie control as Id rather use my own senses for this.

The throttle felt disconected! there was a definate lag in low to mid speed accelleration, then just as she felt like she was about to really get going the anti wheelie control cut in and it just fell on its face! and this was in RACE mode! (slick mode wasnt available as a special connector is required that plugs in underneath the seat to enable this).

The general feel of the bike was ok, I loved the quick shifter, again not a fan of ABS, The brakes felt wooden/vague... I think ABS good for people who probably shouldnt be riding bikes in the first place, but has no place on a weapon such as this!

To give the bike a fair assessment I would definately need to take it to the track, I may find that some level of traction control my be beneficial, but Id defianely can the ABS and wheelie control!

At the moment Id be completely happy to race the 09 R1 or the Aprillia RSV4 Factory in the 6 hour, but not sold on the BMW just yet....

In its raw form it is obviously an absolute beast, but with all the dumbing down from the electronic "trickery" it was like having sex with a dozen condoms on :(

A mate of mine has one and it was just fitted with a new engine at first service because the bottom end let go, what looked like steel wool fell outa the sump hole when the plug was removed!

also interesting although a totally different bike (still a bmw) was a mate of mine had done 70 hrs nearly 3000kms on a bmw x450 motocrosser and when they told him it was a major service he thought ok well knowing what the past services had cost him he thought it might be around the $1800 mark but they actually quoted him over 5 grand because according to the bmw service schedule it required basically a new top end crank rod and piston even though the bike was running fine ????

There was one on track at EC on Tues, I don't know if it was the bike or the rider, but it just tracked so well around the turns. Maybe it was the rider.

Sounds like you went to Frasiers

The dealership I went to handed me the keys and asked me to have fun, keep it upright, and try to keep my one-wheeled riding to a minimum..

The BMW G450X Aussie race team bikes are known to have over 130 race/practice hours on them without a major valve adjustment. They say they are bullet proof if you thrash them...

mate they can't have a good test route, they have to take Harleys out so they need somewhere flat, less turns as possible and easy to load one up when it brakes down... ruins it for the sports bikes though...

Retail for the S1000RR Sport (ABS AND DTC) is $26700 ride away. $2500 less for the Non ABS & DTC model. Tri-colour paint, as with all BMW tri-colour models is $765 extra

Yeah I took one for a ride from Frasers the sales guy was a nice bloke but babysitted all the way. the funny thing is that the sales dudes ride like fuckwits trying to impress you when they are supposed to b there to ensure you do the right thing. Takes a bit to wind up but was pretty fast (quick action throttle would be great on the track) . Felt like an R6 on steriods rather than a litre bike maybe due to the weight. Prefer my R1 engine just not the weight of the R1. I agree with Jai - Not fussed on it. I would rather wait on next years crop of bikes

it is Dynamic in the fact that is not just and 'on/off' feature.

It has 4 Mapped Modes. Rain Sport Race and Slick. The traction control and ABS have different settings for all modes, they cut in earlier or later. in Slick Mode there is no ABS on the rear and the traction control will let you power slide to a point before it takes over... this is hard to explain... BMW really needs a video to show the differences, because your not going to see the differences on a test ride :P
