Brembo to Supply Suzuki Brakes for Three Years

When we caught our first glimpse of the 2011 Suzuki GSX-R600 & 2011 Suzuki GSX-R 750 motorcycles, one of the things that struck us about the new bikes, besides the redesigned front fairing and 20lbs of missing mass, was the use of Brembo calipers as an OEM part. A premium part that’s usually reserved for premium brand motorcycles, Brembo and Suzuki have signed at three-year agreement that sees the Italian company supplying the Japanese manufacturer with braking bits for its GSX-R line.

Being initially used on the 2011 Suzuki GSX-R600 & 2011 Suzuki GSX-R 750 models, Brembo has modified its M4 caliper to fit the Japanese fork bottoms, creating the M4x32. The monobloc calipers have four 32mm pistons, and will start on the 600/750 line, although we can expect to see Brembo calipers on the 2012 Suzuki GSX-R1000. With this partnership, Suzuki joins the ranks of Aprilia, BMW, BRP-Bombardier Recreational Products, Ducati, Harley-Davidson, Husqvarna, KTM, Moto Guzzi, MV Augusta, Piaggio, Triumph, and Yamaha in the list of companies that use the Italian firm’s braking components.

i wouldnt get excited....

Brembo also make the brakes on harleys... they stop awesome! not.

and Ohlins put a damper on zx10's oh cool, but it doesnt work...

they need to put the upspec brembo's on to be any good. stock hypermotard brembo's were gay as a handbag when i rode one. :(

Agreed. But they did say the monoblocks on the new GSXR600/750 are the same as the M4 only modified to fit the japanese bike bottom fork (M4x32 as they called it). If that's the case, it is probably a very good set of calipers... Only time will tell whether it's like Ducati/Ohlins though.

Are they trying to say that suzuki aren't premium brand motorcycles? How strange.

LOL, not exactly an incredibly elite list there.... Sure, some big names, but some fairly low-performance marques there too.

Yeah my 620/696 monsters run twin 320mm 4 spot brembos standard (but I think I got better braking feel with from a single 320mm on my 600 monster ... go figure) the cheapo versions sometimes have the a single disk (320) or a pair of fixed 300mm but still brembo
