Some brilliant photos including a childhood hero of mine Stuart Avant, can you identify them.

Love the photo of Avant from the Hockenheim GP in 83 #47 dragging the knee with the leathers ripped open.

I hope you enjoy it as much as me.

Well I have to admit you have got me stumped Fog. From what I can tell they're mostly from the German series & I've got no idea.

Here is a local one for ya.

It's from a real purple patch in Aussie racing. The famous 3 on a bike pic :ayyy:

Who are the 3 riders & where is it ?

Woodley, Hansford and Willing. At least I think it's Willing. Can't quite make out the helmet in that pic.;) Ooh, and it's OP last turn.

One of the most memorable days of my life.

Mighty Mick Doohan carved up the worlds best in absolute style that day.

I was there with my Dad that day & the ride home was one I will never forget. We lived up lived up this way Dad did shift work in Hornsby. He took the OR to & from work every day, any time of day, rain, hail or shine.
He doubled me up the OR that night & he was on fire. He zipped past a few guys early on & then maintained a constant steady flow all the way to the end of the OR passing bikes along the way. When we got to the end of the OR (slab) he pulled over to wait for the guys we rode with & had a smoke. He finished his cigarette before anyone else appeared & put his helmet back on.
A guy pulled up on a bike & said he chased us as far as he could but just couldn't keep up. He looked at me & said "you're a braver man than I am" & took off.
It was one of those times in my life when I was sooooooooo scared & sooooooooooooo happy at the same time.

Our Dad isn't with us any more but I will always remember that day at Oran Park & the ride home on the back of his bike :D

Anyone guess this trio from that day?

I can guess 1st & 3rd but don't know who is in the middle?

That's awesome. No clue who it is, but thats an awesome "counter-lean" by the front rider. An old technique, and a close cousin of the counter-steer.

WOW HA98, that must have been a fantastic day to share with your elders :ayyy: I'm jealous.

Fog. You got the 1st pic right. It's Croz, but who is following him?

The 3rd pic is Stu Avant on the TZ750 :ayyy:

The 4th pic in the black & yellow is someone we all know

Yeah thats a funny one Oggy. Back when we had international meetings during the European off season the local guys used numbers & the visitors used letters.
I remember when WG made it big & came back for the Swann Series & had G on his plate cos he wasn't involved in the local series. He was an import. Im not quite sure why some used a letter & number

As for the American.........................................

Maybe on more shot sans helmet might help :D

Different bike. Same rider.

Ha i forgot about this thread.

Yep that's Hennen & a spotty faced Randy. Looks like he is about 15 in that pic, probably his 1st trip to NZ for the Marlboro Series.

Note the 1970's A* "desert boots" :lmao:

that photo of Randy was taken around 1973, when he won the NZ 125 Championship - he was 14 at the time.

What a legend.....
