I once used a black texta on the plain white undercoated fairing and got away with it, I'd be very surprised if they gave you grief, not like the Nazi's at the Motogp who insisted you have their exact font numbers.
I'm hoping to book into clubsport and 600s today, and to get down for the practice on the 28th.

Here you go this is a photo of the work of art number boards and numbers, (they are the spare set I am selling with my superstock r6). Given they sell numbers for 50c each, It probably costs the same in texta ink and a lot more time if you do it as carefully as I did ;-).
Daniel, have you still got my front stand, if so could you please bring it to stgeorge meet. Thx.

The bike in Watties avatar doesn't look like less than 500cc
Anyway, Craig White brings stick on numbers of the correct colour and font to each race meet. So providing you already have the correct colour number board, you can just get your numbers from him on the day at $1 per number.
I'll hopefully be in 600's. Blurr why are you D grade? I am guessing you are a lot more experienced and quicker than me and I just got bumped up to C grade (having done only 2 race meets last year) after finishing first in D grade Clubsport at the last St George round at EC. This means I am going to have to get deal with getting bumped up a grade and also jumping up to normal 600's from Clubsport. Bugger, just when I was starting to enjoy being a big fish in a small pond :lmao:

Craig is a mate and I get all my tyres from him BUT Jan charges .50c and "no complains about font" guaranteed (this is the bloke who's been pinged more than most :( - used to run 600 as a number on my monster but had to use a tiny font to get it to fit and then on the at EC in Nov carefully painted my number board red (for my 900) and then put black numbers on them (invisible at a distance) - had the right ones in my hand - but was rushing at 10pm Friday night :dohsmiley:

Well, I plan to be there. I will be in clubsport unlimmited on my 'Blade.
However, starting a new job this week doesn't help things... And the bike needs a major service. And I've never ridden it in the dry... and the suspension is set for 20kg's heavier than me...
Sounds fun!!!

Thats because Wattie and I raced AFXC FX1000 last year and 'C' and 'D" could use yellow and black so were distigushable from the A and B graders.
Yep still 'D" and not that much more experienced. Only did 5 rounds last year and none of them were in St George. Until/if I recieve a notidication from MA that I am being bumped I can only assume I am a 'D" grader ;). Dont worry to much I have never ridden this new bike either :o

But I figger it's not too late to give it a go and experience it , so I'm gunna do it before I can't. There have been quite a number of comments and questions relating to what grading competitors will have in this years AFX-SBK. As I have previously said in most cases will accept the MA grading as being the riders grading for this year. But that will not be the case in every situation, if a rider has repeatedly shown that they are above their MA grading level then we will regrade the obvious cases where required.
There needs to be a fair system in place as we have grading championships in most classes so the correct grading is important to get right. All grading will be looked at on a case by case basis so please contact us by email on admin@aus-superbikes.com.au if you are intending to enter the AFX-SBK series so we can let you know what your grading will be.
Competitors who have previously won outright for the year their classes grade championships will automatically be regraded up to the next level. This will be the case whether the competitor has competed in the ASBK or the AFXC.
cheers,
Terry

See ya's there
I don't see why the rider has to chase up their grading. You enter in the grade you are then it is up to Terry to notify you officAlly. Terry has bagged out MA Alot for poor grading but I raced under a AASA licence for 2 rounds last year and what have they done about their gradings. Something about glass houses comes go mind. ;)

Yeah had a good day overall.
Despite ending up in the dirt next to Hype in race 3 I made progress in each race.
Qualifying was disgraceful ( made a wrong suspension adjustment) combined with really bad track condition and only getting out in time to do 3-4 laps whilst scrubbing in a new slick. Alot of excuses I know but that just somes Joe my day started.
Having never been to Wakefield on a 600 and only the second time on this Zeno sprung machine I was still finding some things to play with. After a disasterous start on he first race where I got boxed in and lost a handful of places by turn 2 I managed to move forward in the platings each race.
Overall really happy with the new bike, Alot of fun, I just need to trust thes brakes more. They ain't no 10r brakes.:ayyy:
Big thanks to Zeno for prepping the bike and working with me onthe phone Friday to dial it in before Saturday kicked off.

Here is some footage from the front guard of Krack at WP today. It is a little vibration affected but it gives a nice perspective I think. Appologoes for not having the correct date displayed. I forgot to update the tag.txt file before using it today. If you look carefully at 4:24:18, you will see him take 9th position. Look a little closer at 4:24:19 and you will see the marshal with a yellow flag out.
Krack, then does the right thing and lets the now 10th position rider through at 4:24:37 but the cheeky 11th placer sneaks in to take 10th (also under a yellow flag). Krack was officialy placed 11th in the race but it should have been 10th. Ah well, that's racing I suppose.

Qualified 7th and managed to finished 7th, then in the second race I lost the back end around T8 and had a pretty big highside, walked away from it, very ginger this morning, and the bike has seen better days. Need to track down some new forks, fairings and a few other things and I should be back in Business! Got a PB of 1:07.3 which makes it all worth while ;)
Was great to meet a lot of RATS members! A big thanks to veitch-y and Rob who were a lot of help in the garage on the day! Congrats to all the guys who did well! But Hell my foot was really sore, got back on track, lost a couple of places and this morning looks like ive broke a couple of toes......but thats ok, theyl mend quicke enough it could have been a hell of a lot worse.....But your ok ish and so is your bike........well not too bad

Stu, I didn't know it was you but I was chatting to you about hitting your foot on Mercho's bike in the office.
Brad, you looked great until the crash. I think Toecutter said you were 5th at that point. You must have picked up a couple of secs since the week before. Your not broke so that's the main thing.
Like Blurr I had new tyres to scrub in and that qualifying session was pretty scetchy. A 1.10 put me in 12th for the first race.
Got a decent start (didn't go backwards or stall) kinda held position and then made a few for 10th place and smashed my previous PB by a whole sec for 1.07.2.
Then the second race, because I was out the back in the sheds I didn't hear the siren and me and this other dude had to start from pit lane. Well fuck me that's an experience. Talk about carnage and mayhem. I hope the forward footage on Toecutters camera he lent me worked cause the rear one I've got doesn't do it justice. I think I made five places just from dudes running off track. One guy goes straight on at T4?( the first left) and I thought it was going to be ten pin bowling. Anyway I managed somehow to finish that one 13th. So I had two 10th's, an 11th and a 13th. And the last race I managed to put in four laps all in the mid to low 1.07's with a PB of 1.07.1. I didn't stop smiling till I went to sleep and it was one of the most awesome days I've ever had:D. Now I think I need to get my pennies together and get Zeno to do some work on the suspenders and maybe Birdy to map it if theres any left over.:ayyy:

It was a great day out there. My 2nd race ever - I was in the BEARS class on the 696. Had an absolute ball - was hyped up all the way home from Goulburn to Newcastle.
If there's anyone reading this who's been thinking about racing but who "doesn't think they're ready yet" - don't delay. Get a license, and get out there and have fun. It's a completely different level to track days.
I was pleased to see my lap times coming down each session. One thing I've GOT to work on - the start! That first turn gets very crowded, and I reckon I'm being too polite, letting people squeeze in - which just makes it so much harder in that I've got to get around them later in the race.
Bring on the next round!

Excellent weekend - was surprised to get 2nd place in D Unlimited, after a slow but scary qualifying (ran off at turn 8 first session, finished the second session early for adjustments, had expected a practice session to set it up...). Stayed for Sunday's PCRA on the 750T, first race was wet with most people on slicks, going well, a few minor slides then lost the back end completely, stayed on the bike but ran off the track, finished but lost four or five places tiptoeing round the last lap with muddy wet tyres. Pleased with a 4th overall in Pre Modern F1

Had a ball on sat finally gridding up with 600 rats. 1st time i have raced a 600 here.
qual was very slippery lots of dust and a new front tyre so just tooled around gettin used to NO power.
started 17th next to viechy and a rather large breasted lady on the fence. had a push n shuv with hype for a little bit. made my way to 6th
i could see the lights this time and pushed my way thru to 3rd(BIG rob was amazed) had some fun
started on front row for race 3 and popt into the lead up the hill (using the mighty power of the 6r ,fuk i havnt been able to twist the throttle so fast to the stop on anything i've raced like this)bumping colin out of the way, then pulled back 1 too many gears at the bottom of the hil and let him back thru, then followed him onto the straight, never thinking this would be the case , i screwed his engine together a bit too good me thinks , the ginga pulled a gap , doh. i held 2nd till last corner and the 16yr old kid that weighs 2.3 kgs out dragged me to the line .
race 4 was going ok untill 2 laps to go and the bike started hiccuping. think it maybe a TPS and i went back to 8th, think i was 3rd or 4th.
finished 1st A-B 600. Had a farkin ball on the little toy. now just need to find 20hp and get back to what i'm used to.
was a god prac day for the world champs
and to the man who helped me feel straight at home on the 6r, ZENO. farkin bike setup was perfect , i didnt touch a thing(HARRY). thanx big time .
tyres were perfect. he does know his job .

first ever pole and then followed up with 4 wins... not a bad days work in the heat!

All that was wonderfull Wetty.
But you failed to mention that the Mrs & I took you off the street & gave you a place to sleep for the night. Looked after you so you could perform the way you did.
If it wasnt for us you would have had to sleep in the gutter we found you in..:lmao:
Nar well done bunky. Great fun had by all I say..:ayyy:

cheers Wetty and Zeno... bike was quick and handled well
thought I should give a bigger thanks to both couple of people.. wished i had the presence of mind to have done it when i got the trophy!
Thanks wetty for the help in getting the engines sorted for the old gixxer and the R6. If anyone needs a mechanic who you can trust to do a great job, then he's your man. Not only does he do a quality job but is fast as well!! Not only that but he sorted my fairings out in about 4 days.. not many other places that can get them made so quickly!
Zeno.. your patience and hard work has been invaluable, there is a direct correlation between my laptimes dropping and your assistance! Popping around at the last minute with fork in hand and you spending your evening to make changes for me is going above and beyond. Being able to contact you any time for suspension advise has made a huge difference and the time you have spent to explain it to me has meant that i've learnt heaps and can actually understand the changes we've made! For everyone i'm using Zeno's 25mm carts and stock shock which his magic worked.. not an ohlins part in sight (well, apart from the springs!)
if you've got a mechanic and suspension guy you trust the rest is easy... you need to invest time in people, for them to invest time in you!
also thanks Scott (tempest161) without his support and help i'd have not even got a race bike in the first place. He always manages to pull the spare part out that i need and willing to help fit it or lend me his trailer for the past 4 months.. or van to drive to brisbane to pick up a bike ... the list is endless.
haha... just re-read and sounds like an ocsar speech! but wouldn't have come close to winning a motorcycle race without the help from the above and others!

I have been reading and looking at all the film clips over and over. Congratulations to everyone involved whether it be riders, flagies, wives or water carriers. Anyone that reads these posts would have to be dead not to get the feeling of comadery and mateship. Well done to all the riders that gave their best. Those with an off on the day I hope you heal and the memory although painful will be cherished with a smile.
WELL DONE ALL:ayyy:

Yep it was friggin hot Saturday and back to back races nearly did me in, and then cool with some drizzle Sunday for PCRA. Despite being somewhat slow I still had a ball dicing at the back in unlimited with a few others including an A grade rider on a Harley who could really ride and another 750. Same in PCRA. That is why racing is such fun whether you are at the pointy end, in the middle or bringing up the rear - there is always someone to mix it with. Great weekend, looking forward to the next one

Briefly, in my quick write up of Saturdays activities :)
Saturday 5/2/11 dawned bright and clear, a perfect start to the 2011 Honda RJays St George clubman road race series. Although quite hot, a strong westerly kept everyone reasonably comfortable during the days activities, while also helping turn in to the fast turn 1!
As qualifying began, the slipperiness of the racing surface came to light for all competitors. Overnight rain had dragged top soil onto the hot mix, and although completely dry, the dusty surface severely compromised grip.
I found out how much it had compromised grip when my 165 section rear Bridgestone slick couldn't handle the task of putting the 80 odd hp of the TKR YZF600 to the ground! It was however, when the 120 section front slick decided to head straight ahead through the fast right hand sweeper at turn 6, I decided to roll off and stay upright...
As racing began the surface began to clean up, and the fun began. Obviously, Team Kanushoo is slightly outclassed in a field made up almost entirely of talented riders on far more modern machinery, but a few good close duels put a smile on my dial. I may not have 120hp, but there is nothing wrong with the brakes into the tight 2nd gear turn 10!
My fastest lap of 1:12.2 came in the 3rd of 4 races, where I finished in 23rd outright of the 33 bikes to qualify for the combined clubsport/retro field. That lap is not a PB, however it is faster than I managed at any point during 2010. So the new year is off to a good start!
With Quali and 4 races completed by 4pm packing up was done quickly, and beer drinking combined with pizza eating began on arrival at Chez Russ. A big thank to all the officials and volunteers who helped make the meeting so much fun to be involved in.
Can't wait to get back out there now!!!

Didnt get to see much of ya Russ. I think everyones times were a bit slow, must have been the heat/track or both. I was flat out dragging my sorry arse into the 9s so I wasnt just you mate. Looks like you still put in a stella performance though.

Is it hard to swap fork internals over? I have a second hand set of forks coming and wouldn't mind putting my racetech springs in them if they aren't too damaged?

Thanks Wetty, yeah i think I will, I have ordered another second hand set anyway and will keep one set for a spare, just hard for me to get to sydney during business hours to get it done. He did an awesome job on a Rim that I had to get done last year!
Lower triple is stuffed, one of the stoppers has been ground off...

I'm just new to this site but before anything else I have to apologise to Hype again since I was the bloke who took him out. I'd love to destroy all that footage so I could at least come up with a good excuse. All I've got is I saw a gap and the gap closed! I honestly thought someone ran up the back of me and knocked me off but unfortunately the camera doesn't lie. Hope you're toe is feeling a bit better and the bike is coming along.

Should I just see that as my apology as well considering you took my out as well???? your bike took the rear of hypes bike and the front of mine. Check footage again. White leather suit

Yep, I didn't want to take anyone out, including myself. In six years of racing, including a number of crashes, it hasn't happened before so hopefully I have that out of the way. I don't bounce as well as I once did! I take it your bike was the one that put it's front tyre over my back - I'm trying to work out what type of tyres you had from the marks on my leathers!

Apology accepted Bill, it takes some courage to publicly admit fault and take the blame and i respect that. I understand and accept that accidents happen (especially under race conditions) and i apologise in return if i came off a bit harsh once i got to my feet.. adrenalin does that...
i knew you were a length or two behind and on my inside into T2 and assumed you would know that whatever gap existed would quickly close on turn in so i still left marginal room in case of error... had you have not gone to grass and folded the front on the ripple there would have been enough room for us to trade elbows without a collision.. you came in just a bit too hot (from Marshy's point of view)
I'm not sure if you can view the video from my bike and Maurice's bike behind us (FB) as it shows no one behind you until your bike crosses the path of Blur's ZX6 which lowsides him... he fell over the top of you but not onto you as you slid with your bike... you were very lucky his bike didn't use you for a landing.
call it a brainfart or error in judgment, it is what it was and we can't change that now so we should fix the bikes and move on and hopefully avoid this happening again
i'm surprised we weren't further injured by it and am happy to say i only copped a dislocated toe, fractured heel and torn muscle in the back from my flight... i'd also like to thank Berik Leathers, sidi boots and every other racer for not mowing me down as i was in the line of fire lol
and once again to Blurr who disregarded his own situation and bike to make sure i was alright
see you at the next round, but hopefully not as intimately :p
