It saves you from having to keep score for people who have obvioulsy given up or have lost interest.

Just a thought before it all starts ... it doesn't seem fair that if you pick the top three riders but in the wrong order you get nothing how about 1/2 point for each rider picked but in the wrong place with a bonus 1 1/2 if all 3 are there

eg result is

But you picked Randy Casey Dani should be worth 1/2 + 1/2 + 1/2 + 1 1/2 = 3points
Or you picked Randy Casey Rossi should be worth 1/2 + 1/2 = 1point

guys just wondering if it would be easier to use OzTips for this?

I can imagine this thread is going to get real messy a few rounds in.. OzTips have a MotoGP league (I just went in and created a MotoGP tipping comp to test it) and it does all the point calcs, etc for you. It will also send you email or sms reminders if you want.

Just my 2c as I reckon the poor comp manager for this one will have their hands full if doing it all manually

the comp admin has to specify how many points each is worth.. they were 0 by default

oztips tips choose/design the format.so couldnt do original. there is a rules link on the page somewhere... from memory points for pole, winner and top 5.. but confirm on oztips

It was fine to go with oztips due to the numbers involved but posting that option on Thursday so people only had 3 days to log onto RATS find out about oztips & then register is an extremely short time frame.

I put forward the first race points be canned & the RATS comp starts from the second race due to the extremely short time frame of notification of rules & use of oztips.

for the back ground.. i was waiting as long as i could to confirm if we could do it in house.. but turned out we couldnt.. so posted oz tips up and tried to get it a s close to our original format that oztips would allow for ..

any way we have 41 tipsters registered and people being people interest will wane through out the year, people will forget to tip as life gets busy, and people will take there bat and ball so either way cant please everyone so it will stand as is. still plenty of time to for everyone to register and win because as this morning showed it will be an interesting year with plenty of people dicing it up for wins and positions

I see where everyone is coming from who didn't get their tips in but I see two problems - as it is run by Oztips we are using their rules and the rules for scoring points is different to the original format and you can't add tips after the fact. Thus the only way would be to start a new comp and disregard the first week penalising those who did get register.

Personally not fussed if we want to change or not, the way I see it, I am in a tipping comp that doesn't cost me a cent, have had not had to be involved in organising or control of and have a remote (some would say that is stretching the truth) chance of winning something. My view is to just say thank you and hope I win.

I think though that there is another much more pressing issue that hasn't been addressed here and that is people are not logging on each day, show some commitment people (all said in jest)

I know they're an awesome suit and all and I too would love to win it but I think you guys are taking this waaaaaaaaaaaaay to seriously. Name calling is not needed and has no place here. Chado did what he had to do so the comp could go on. It would have been a nightmare keeping everyone's tips updated and I didn't see anyone here raising their hands to do it themselves.. plus we're on the 21st century, how hard is it to get internet access??? Saying it was 'pathetic' is uncalled for.

I set up my account and put my tips in using my mobile because where I was I had no easy access to a PC. ROYAL PITA to do it on the phone but I did it because I thought the idea of a RATs tipping comp was fun. I'll be still putting my tips in but because I think it's fun not because I believe I'll win any prize (chances are I won't!).

I understand some ppl missed out on the deadline and it's fair enough to be frustrated by that. I even suggested a system where we all had to discard one result (fair for those who missed out on the 1st race and for those that will prob miss one at some stage - i.e me!) but let's not lose focus on the main reason of the comp and go overboard with our comments here, all for a chance to win a leather suit.

Like I said, I was away and still made it with no access to a PC. It was not fun having to register using a mobile phone but definitely not impossible. And I'm not even taking my chances to win anything here seriously... so if you did/do, I suggest you check this thread more often than not.

I just found out you can win $500 worth of kit. I hadn't read the first page, saw the comp and said why not, apologies to Dan, Irena and Ed.
It should be noted that this now alters my view on those who missed putting their tips in, I sincerely thank you.

I have also proposed additional rules that anyone who opposes the rules be deducted 50 points, those who have gloated about doing well also deducted 50 points, anyone with a name starting with the letters B, D, I, K M, O, S, T, V and W also be deducted 50 points. Should fix the points position

Tipped Stoner again, BTW. He hasn't had a great track record at Jerez and it's tough tipping against the Spaniards but I reckon he can do it. Rossi could be a surprise podium too!

I guess I'm just pissed off - I know the rules changed for a reason but a number of us (over 20%) were unable to comply in the time frame. So even with PUBLISHED tips before the rule change just because we didn't have access to an internet connection ....

Fair would be reject all rnd 1 tip OR add all Published tips equally but that didn't happen so ... I'm taking my bat and heading home :(

excellent now every things validated we can get on with it.. considering there is a heap of deleted /previous posts saying I’ve lost interest, I’m not playing, the rules sucks, I dont have access etc etc.. for validation all 50+ did not even tip under old format..

anyway there was plenty of notice that the format / rules may be changing .. if the contest meant that much to people, checking in was not that hard

fortunately we got the vast majority of people as shown by 44 registered tipsters ..

Just went to enter my tips, this round is in the states so is later than european races (qualifying isn't till Sunday morning our time) but for some reason I am already too late to enter them. Whats the story, where was my reminder email to warning me of changed tipping cutoff.

I sent them an email advising of my displeasure in this system.

hey Chado totally not your fault, Oztips upgraded their site to a login through Yahoo, in short the old site disappeared. To do so though you have to create an accound with yahoo (pain in the arse as you have to create a new user name and I couldn't take the Rats one) and then upgrade your status. For some reason they changed the cut off time, previously you could do it the prior to qualifying but now it seems it is the day before qualifying.

I believe there is sweet fa anyone can do apart cop it on the chin as you can't retrsopectively put your tips in, though I did tip the pole, the top 5, the winner and top two teams. Fuck you yahoo!

Just regarding the new site and the way it accepts tips..

Be a bit careful, i went to put the tips in for the next round, select the czech republic from the list, all good, and instead of taking me to that round It took me to the indianapolis round.

I entered my tips and then realised what it had done, and it did this a couple of times in a row, so double check what round your tips are being saved to! Not a fan of the yahoo take over at all :mad:
