I've emailed Michelin here but I expect it not to apply to us. Will let you know if I hear back...
We get the tyres built from Spain, not the French factory, so our codes will be like HBCW979T. Not the effected 6UCW979T's
Still to confirm, but Michelin are vey specific its only for tyres marked "Made in France" and with the 6U prefix. We should be fine. The issue was front tyre delaminating.. yuk.

It appears this only applies to tyres from the US AND Europe.
Isn`t that ironic. I just got a PM from the Admin at gixxer.com
I won the monthly give a way from them for May.......A set of Pilot Powers.

Michelin to Recall Pilot Power 2CT and Pilot Power 120/70 ZR 17 Front Motorcycle Tyres
15/06/07
(STOKE-ON-TRENT – 15 June 2007) – Michelin has launched a campaign to recall its Pilot Power 2CT and Pilot Power 120/70 ZR 17 front motorcycle tyres with “Made in France” markings. An examination of these tyres showed a possible defect in the tread due to a manufacturing irregularity. No cases of pressure loss have been reported and no accidents have occurred.
Because customer safety is its primary concern, Michelin has decided as a precaution to replace certain 120/70 ZR 17 Michelin Pilot Power 2CT and Michelin Pilot Power front tyres, which can be identified by the following markings on the sidewall:
* a “Made in France” label
* DOT 6UCW 980T or DOT 6UCW 979T
These tyres will no longer be sold by dealers.
A special telephone number for consumers has been set up to provide customers with information about the campaign and will be operational on Monday 18 June from 8.30 a.m.
The telephone numbers are:
UK : 0800 454774
Republic of Ireland: 0044 (0)1782 401535

Check the batch numbers.
If yours need to be recalled I (personally) would consider doing a track day on them, then getting them replaced...
Delaminating tyres are no joke, so weigh up the pro's and con's before hand.

hmmm... front tyre delaminating into T1 at Eastern Creek... no chance would I risk it, at best youd still be thinking about it all day which is dangerous enough. Its not worth getting every cent from yours tyres in normal use, they're too important.

I have used the Made in France tyres in Australia before. They are generally the better quality ones that end up on front end supersport bikes.
A couple of years ago they made out they were the same tyre as the Spanish ones but they were different on track.
They used to be made in smaller sections giving a better quality control at the factory.
If I had a recalled tyre on my bike there is no way I would be tipping into any corner, my self preservation wouldn't let me.

Yep, each to their own.. anyway..
NEWS FROM MICHELIN....
Tomorrow there will be a press release stating a recall of the PP 2CT fronts with the matching numbers.
So if you havent already visited your local bike shop and rummaged through their used tyre pile then you've missed your chance <evil grin>

I have bought michelin's with the made in france stamp in sydney before.
They always feel different to the spanish ones.

Thats what I heard, apparently some supersport riders are selective to that, they only pick the made in france ones!
anyway, best all check, even though the recall is for PP 2CT's I'd be kicking up if I had the PP standards with the made in france and that recalled product code.

What were the diffferences?
Didnt you do a 45 at EC on PP's? Ahh :n: (joke, hmm or was it someone else?)
I remember a lot of people OS said the 2CT's didnt give any feedback compared to PP's in the front- I think one guy said he lowsided becuase of this but we all know people dont always tell the truth and variables are variables.
Either way, im going corsa III's next or racetech's depending on the season.
