Just hope the freight companies in Canada are better than the Canada postal service or your bike may end up in China.

ok here it starts
if the vehicle is pre jan 1989 built it can be imported and rego'd
post that date of build and it cant be.
as i race and have a race licence and currently race this specific model its a load easier to bring in for race /close circuit use only( so i will have to use my spare vin and plate).
i have to apply to canberra for import papers . i have to supply invoice of ownership and fill out a load of paperwork. A good buddy who does this all the time and is only to happy to guide me thru(previous owner of metros) the maze.
let you know more later
cool i was thinking about doing this purely for my next track bike upgrade
look forward to seeing the procedure

So the bike has been dropped off last fri at the shippers to be crated .Had to wait till the owner came home so he could take it to the mainland.
Was about $850 to have it picked up and dropped off at shipper so i decided to wait for him .
The shipping and crating cost were just under $2k US. So now just doing paperwork.

plus another $100 to get rid of the crate . was spost to be out of the crate so i could wheel it into the van but was not.
the drama was we were told it was removed from the crate(big wooden box) and washed, but infact it the side was removed from the box and they hosed it down while still strapped in the crate where it travelled.
so i turned up and there is no farkin way if in fact i did get the box in the van i would never have got the fuker out at home . so they had a cry and finally 1/2 dissaembled the box and i wheeled it out and into the van. 3 farkin hrs it took . definatetly not the brokers fault , very poor communication from the wankers where the box was. there shit dont stink that lot. as i explained if i made that sort of mistake it would be like the wheel falling out of the bike i had just worked on as it left pit lane.
so $1900 to box and ship and $1900 to get it in the van this end.
the invoice price of the bike for customs was $2500 aud
total just less than $9600 and i cannot rego it the way it sits as its post 12/89 so i will have to fudge the system

nice choice in font size.. ithe hubble space telescope would've come in handy just then
motherf**k... 3800 to get it delivered and out of customs.. and that's by sea! i hate the whole import process here, when i brought in some jap cars years ago they took ages to complete the quarantine/inspection thing and i had to pay storage fees ontop of it all for their lazyness.. I wonder how all those Learner bike places import tons of those cbr250's all the time? there has to be an easier way...
