sometimes the clutch needs to be inspected and replaced before this happens.
1 race start too many, i stretched this clutch to 2 race meetings, lucky 4 me the race meeting was called off after 1 race(WP when ol mate had a heart attack at rnd 2)or i wooda been packin up early.

I thought you couldn't kill a wet clutch, well not at least in a couple of race meetings.

What is special about the clutches if anything you run? I thought the stock clutch was pretty tough

If it was 110hp it prob would be ok for a long time. I usually replace most of the fibre & steel plates(kit fibres) after every meeting . Especially after broadford last yr coz there were 5 races.

Paul for those of us who are not smart (me) the basic modern road bike from a 600 up that is less than 6 years old is punching well above 110, fuck I had an 03 GSXR1000 that punched out 148 at the rear wheel on the dyno 5 years ago (it was plated as a 600 but that is another story) it was a dead set wheelie machine. The lad who bought it off me who liked to wheelie, did the clutch after about 2 years and 40k.

It just seems such a short life even for a race bike. Are other lunatic racers having the same problem. I say lunatic in the nicest way possible other watching said lunatic on a zx7rr (got it right this time) demolish the field at OP a couple of years ago.

Maybe you should take it easy on the starts:p

did you read the 1st line of the thread???????????

its not a 7R gearbox its a kit g'box. 1st gear is used for more than just gettin off the line.

if i took it easy old boy butler would have something to tell the grandkids

I did but how much more torque are we talking by going up in gearing. Clearly a taller gear puts more torque/ load but screw that many clutch replacements.

I don't know why you are worried about subtler, the way I hear you overtake you could just punt him off the road under yellow:p

Dunno about that..... besides race 600's, most 600's over the last 4-5 years have been around 110-115h.p at the wheel and that's with pipes and mapping.
