One is 06 and one is 07
They are both a good read and pretty interesting.
I wouldnt base a tyre choice decsion on outright lap time or corner speed. There is enough info between the lines to make an educated guess and to pick something that suits your personal preference. I.e lots of front end feedback, quick tip in, masks bumps etc

I can't see the Dunlop Qualifiers anywhere. I'm looking at putting them on the Blackbird - I was going to go with the Michelin Pilot Power but I got this voucher (from CSS) that gets me a free ride day with a new set of Qualifiers.
I assume they're good tyres?

Go the Michelin's. I ran the Qualifiers on my old SV1000s & was verry happy with there grip but not so with there life only got 3500ks out of the rear on the road. when i switched to power's that whent up to over 5 out of the rear & felt better to.

I have ridden my mates 10r with them (factory fitted)
They seem similar, but ball up much quicker indicating less mileage.
You might have to put it down to $$ Vs mileage taking into account track days.

Bloody hell do they wear out that fast? I've done 6,000 Km on my OEM (Dunlop 205), including a ride day and they're still only half worn....
The alternative is those dual compound tyres (Michelin PR2 .. ??? can't quite remember) but no-one seems to have any stock left.

Michelin make a Pilot Power 2CT, is that what youre thinking of? The edge is considerably softer than the Pilot Power, the center is marginally softer. (many believed the centre to be harder than the PP but thats not the case)
A good tyre for the BBird would be the Michelin Pilot Road.
Whatever you choose, keep in mind a good tyre is one you get get up to its operating temperature. Full stop!
No use going super sticky tyres if you can't get them to heat up to spec, since a harder (road based) compound will stick better than softer tyres that you cant get up to temp.

No, Jason, I am thinking about the Michelin Pilot Road 2 (I checked, I did have it right) http://two-wheels.michelin.com/2w/front/affich.jsp?codeRubrique=2092004103844&lang=EN
However I'm not so sure now, they don't seem to be made with track use in mind. So perhaps the P Powers are better.
Then again, to complicate matters there are these: http://two-wheels.michelin.com/2w/front/affich.jsp?codeRubrique=2092004103801&codePage=2092004103801_09092004115144&lang=EN
Too much choice for me .... :confused1:

:) Pilot road isn't a prob on the track... an instructor at the Stay Upright 'cornering and braking' school at OP I went to last month uses Pilot Roads, hes a very very quick rider!
P.s. Tyres are SUCH a personal preference thing... your best just to try out suggestions, find what you like and take any advice with a grain of salt. (inc my own)

Gotcha, thanks Jason.
Usually such advice comes from the OzBB Forum, experts of everything BB related - but sadly their server has gone down in a serious way.

Agreed... I had a set on my zx9 and had no problems getting around Wakefield Park at 1'12'' and OP at 1'26'' and at that pace got a lot of laps out of them as well as plenty of road km's. Going faster now so switched to Dunlop Qualifiers(got em cheap) - good at WP - 1'08'' and OP - 1'22'', EC - 1'47''. Just put Mettzler M1's(even cheaper only $300 for the set) on and have my first ride on them tomorrow at Wakefield.

Pulled a low 7 once also. That's if you can trust the dude with the stopwatch. Should have been about right though, a guy with laptimer was doing consistant 6's all day and was only just falling off his pace.
May be a slow one tomorrow though, due to new tyres and a few weeks off the bike.
Are you going to make it out there?

Thats outstanding you must be pretty happy with that:ayyy:
No I wont be there too hard to get time off at the moment.Next one is a Sunday, no way Ill pay $140 to ride Wakefield. Might try for the 16/10.
Hope the weather holds out for you, its overcast and sprinkling a bit right now:mad:
