Come on Honda! Along the same lines as the CBR600RR, let's hope it's:

- 180hp +
- 160kg +/- 1-2kg
- traction control or variable mapping
- decent paint schemes (ice white, black on black, etc)
- a nice tail section, unlike the new 600

Anyone know when an announcement is due?

IIRC the Fireblade has always been focused on a real world road bike as opposed to a road registered track vehicle.

Indeed, but the top sellers seem to be the bikes that appeal to "owning the racetrack" and other such slogans. The game has changed IMHO, and now it's all about performance. If Honda bring out a bike that looks like the 800 GP bike, with a low weight and class-matching power, it'll sell unbelievably. I'd buy one.

Word is the next VFR is going to be in the sporty mould.

If you check the figures Honda still outsell the others in roadbikes. Yamaha are on top with dirt bike sales. A friend handed me a printout the other day, I'll see if I can dredge up the link tomorrow.

honda is on top only because of postie bikes.

Road bikes maybe, but not *sport bikes*. In Aus, Honda get rammed hard in sportbike sales.

On the American 1000RR.NET SITE there's a rumour that the CBR will stay for 2008 with inline 4, then for 2009 it will change to the V4, and have a new name (dropping the CBR tag), but Honda always do things in two's so who knows...... a V4 would be VERY SWEET...

Every other year yep, but this year I heard its different, removing posties the 1000rr made some serious sales, got Honda to the top this year.

All the rumours that I have been hearing is that 2007 will be the last year for the VFR.

Huh? The sales figures I've seen have the Fireblade as like the top selling sport bike.

I will try find the info.

Here's the link...

http://www.fcai.com.au/files/TOP_10_by_Category_April_2007.pdf

That shows sales from January to April for 2007, Honda have the sports bike market on lock down so not sure what you're talking about Luke.

i know from last year working at westerns that honda was getting on every bodies back "shops" as their sales were not good. I think suzuki sports bikes would be the top seller.

This year it's Honda, last year it appeared to be Yamaha.

Check the link I posted.

As long as Honda make its top shelf sports bike rideable they are on a winner. Every year other manufacturers make claims of more power, less weight & the Honda is still in the hunt.
Dont get me wrong I would happily own any R1, GSXR, ZX10 or CBR1000, but lets face it, there are only half a dozen blokes in Oz who can really ride em to their potential & they are the blokes who get PAID to ride em.

The rest of us want to think we can but the reality is we fart around on em, do our best & have some fun. It seems in the past few years Honda has made a bike that is user friendly & not fully agro. Its not the fastest or the most powerful but is a usable package & keeps Honda owners happy.
Thats just my opinion.

Anyone makes a V4 1000 in the future, I want one.

traction control?

The thing that limits this is usually my brain not being able to process shit fast enough.

In my experience if they ever made one for a bike, it would probably be more of a pain then what its worth. Even when I set it up on my track car it was a very personal thing. Having a general set up is very hit and miss

Honda actually have the best selling sports bikes by far in the 1000 and 600 rr's. The best selling bikes are very rarely the track focussed bikes.

I'm hearin' ya Dunno, yesterday i road Georges ORANGE ZX-10 and i have to say it is an absolute WEAPON !!!!!!!! Up the OLD ROAD i was wheelieing out of corners in 3rd gear !!!! And up towards the Slab i was wheelieing in 4th !!!! But it has a seriously twitchy front end and is NO WHERE NEAR as stable as the BLADE, i found it not too bad when you really hang your weight over the front (RUSSEL HOLLAND STYLE).... but i tell you what it was a rush, and i want more !!!!!!!!! That horsepower i very addictive and with the bike set up for me i think it would be GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its interesting, you see more people on GSXR's and R1's on the road.

When I was looking for an 06 1000RR I could pick from one at an over priced dealer.

What are all the 1000RR owners doing with their bike??? Trophy room? I dont see many on the road, or at the track!

They crash 'em and then wait for insurance to come through only to find out they were with Shannons......and never get paid out.........

2 things Fezz, my man:

1. Honda would've been fucked like last year had Mr N. Hayden not stumbled into the championship.

2. From what I've seen, Honda was flooding through Repsol coloured 06s for next to nothing. I'd like to know how many of those "top sales" were 07 bikes.

As others have said, on the street it's all about gixxers and Yamahas. I'm not a Suzuki fan, but they sell a shit load of bikes.

It really is amazing how "HYPE" sells bikes, Suzuki got away with it and now there is a lot of guys who i ride with who'll not buy the new gix

^^ That is why I wanted a 1000RR!

But you know what, I read on the 1000RR forum on the "08/09 whishlist" topic a few guys actually prefer the gsxr handeling.

This both confuses me and sadens me.
