View Full Version : Data Loggers
Has anyone had any experience or knowledge on buying and/or using data loggers on their bikes.
I am looking at buying a data logger for the track bike but unsure where & what to do.
Found these 2 options but do not know much about them.

Are they easier to hook up or is this a job for an auto electrician.

I haven't really looked into it but check this site out.
Be careful of the systems that offer infra-red beacons as they can't be used on track days.

This would be neat.. uses GPS so you dont need a timing beacon... lets you download and view sector times and see what race lines you used to get the better times... http://www.driftbox.com/performance_meter.html
Theres a few articles in the UK bike mags where they used this to great success for track day riders improving their times.

Bart it depends how much info you want. Veypor is very good a friend has one but it just has so much info it really is a dash replacement device.
I'm mostly interested in lap times but would like sectors on the track which is hard to do when you need transponders everywhere with the timers bought here on group buy (I have one of these & mainly just want best lap).
Now since buying the Nokia 6110 Navigator I have found software (link was posted here) that will let you use the GPS feature as a lap timer & you can setup sectors. The site doesn't have any AUS tracks so will have to plot them for first time use. I'm going to play & see how good it is but more or less your phone in your pocket is good enough to get top speed, sector times & fastest lap (if I can get it to work).

Clever thinking !
Although theres a case I could argue that your laptimes are ... wait for it...

Roy,
The CBR600 I have has basically no instrumentation. It has a kwaka tacho but it has a different redline to the honda oem one.
Basically I want the data logger to have a lap counter, tacho. speedo & hopefully a gear indicator.
Hey guys I'm looking at data logging, CBR1000rr 08 hrc electricals.
What I require is rpm/ throttle position, front and rear linear potentiometers, wheel speedo ther stuff isn't too important. Dash isn't overall important either.
Have looked into aim mychron 3 gold, motec, 2d, hrc.
Has anyone had much expirience with any of these?
