What do we do about organising a pit. Last time I just plonked in with a couple of guys I knew but this time I'll have tyre warmers etc so would like to organise something beforehand.

Posted this on the Trakdaze site also.

Also trakdaze gets a discount from champions (don't know how much), Has RATS got anything with them?

Jordan
02-01-2007, 12:16 PM
... i think with champions if you book with six or more people you get $25 of each and every persons fee. Saw it on their website

dungbeetle

hey Zee,

mate, they are still taking bookings :) The advertised rate is $130, although if you are a trakdaze member, you get a $25 discount.... so that means it is a mere $105 for the track day :)

I just managed to give them a bell and book in :) They only have three groups though, slow / intermediate / advanced.... so I decided to bite the bullet and book into the advanced group :)

Well Im out:( Bit unrealistic to think I could make it. I still cant take any weight on the arm. Even if I was cured by a miracle today its still going to take me a bit to repair the glass. I had someone lined up to do it so it would be done about the same time I was ready to go but he turned out to be a dick who was all talk:mad: ( I suspect he rides a Kawasaki......:p )

Have fun and try not to miss me too much:ayyy: .

Wardy
09-01-2007, 04:43 PM
That's a bit cheeky Neil...Why don't you give the glass a go yourself, that's what I'm planning on doing when the ineviatable happens.

swabio
09-01-2007, 04:47 PM
he is not able to get it done due to the arm I suspect.... if ya need a hand neil, I can do it....

although you would have to supervise, as I have never done any glass work.....

Wardy
09-01-2007, 04:55 PM
Hey doesn't everyone only work with one arm? Usually the other one is for holding a beer. Just in Neils case it's in a sling:)

Saturday Mostly fine.

City: Min: 21 Max: 33
West: Min: 19 Max: 40

Damn...... what a scorcher!

striker
13-01-2007, 04:11 PM
That will be unpleasant. Better than rain at least and losing a couple kilos on the day won't hurt. And besides, the bureau have a hard time predicting whats happening an hour or two away so we really have no idea what's going to happen. I usually plan for the opposite of the forecast. Seems to work most of the time.

striker
14-01-2007, 04:31 PM
And just to support my comments regarding the bureau in case anyone thought I was being a bit harsh, lets recap their forecast over the last few days for todays weather.

5 days ago it was going to be raining.

3 or 4 days ago they changed it to morning showers clearing through the day and that was how it remained up until last night.

Did anyone see anything that looked like a hint of rain today?

I'm so glad the BOM receives a percentage of my taxes to ensure they continue doing the fine job they do. If only we could put some money into a research project based on unicorns and dragons. It would be equally productive.

I am a definite for this Oran Park this weekend pending booking. I will try phone them tomorrow. If we need a pit do you guys want to kick in for the $110 to get one? It'd be cheaper if there were couple more people going. Is there still only 3 of us?

Ahhhh the Aussie Bureau of Meteorology -- I've heard before that the limited $$ they have available to them from the government means the equivalent US department is able to do better weather predictions than we are able to do here -- that's annoying to hear but doesn't sound that far fetched when you look at the massive computational power required to do do modern day meteorology.

I'll often compare the weather at the SMH (from BoM) with the weather at the US based Weather.com site and notice large differences:-
http://www.weather.com/weather/print/ASXX0112

... anyways who cares about all that, the weather is going to be great so I'm keen to be there. Reading this thread makes it look like there are only a few people keen for it though. Sounds like you all need encouragement... Take a look at the satellite photo people, it's going to be great !! :-

Just booked in. It's going to be awesome. And seeing I've met very few of you here is my description: I should be easy to spot. Any time you see a guy take a corner and you think to yourself "What the hell kind of ridiculous line is that?" or "I thought we came out here to go fast" it's probably me that you're looking at.

See you guys there.

My day was fantastic. I did one lap, during which a piece of my rearset fell off. I had no spares and the part was unable to be found so I packed up and went home.

I can't really get the shits too much because it is my fault for not having spares and going out when the bit was obviously loose in the first place.

Regardless of the fact that it is my fault it still pisses you off.

The other guys seemed to be having fun. I hope you all had a good day after I went home. I'll see you on the next one.
