just realkised...all those numbers are in us dollars to...ill convert them this arvo when i get home....

TG 6v w/Beacon = $207.95.....$258.77aus
TG 6v w/o Beacon = $187.95...$233.89aus
TG 12v w/Beacon = $274.95...$342.15aus
TG 12v w/o Beacon = $254.95...$317.26
plus $15....$18.67aus for the fork holders each. plus a share of shipping. ive decided that ill get them all shipped to me and then bring them with me on the 25th march track day. that way it will save everyone a few bux on shipping. if ya want it before then i can ship it to ya for around 5 bux at a guess.
im thinking if we ad $5...$7aus to each one that should cover shipping from the states to here....
so the run down is. pick the one ya want up the top, add $15 for the fork mount holder, and $5 for shipping. remember we can all run off the one transponder so we wont all need to buy one with a trans.
you guys will have to work out ya totals...ill put the list at the start of the post to....

i'll let you know either tommorow or sat if i'm in for one dungy, just waiting on the bank now mate.
I don't know.........what am I gonna tell the misses when she doesn't need to do the timing. She'll get even more bored and then won't wanna come.
Does it come with an IR transmitter?
I guess I'll need the fork mountie thing too. :ayyy:
Are these the same as Bigdogs, Dungie? If so I'm in! + I want one of those coooool fork mounted holders!
Mono yeah they are the same...
Oddly enough most people I see have the XT timers not the Mychron ones...
XT ones have a single AA battery mounted in the receiver and the one battery should last your 6 months+ of use (my last battery went flat due to strange circumstances but I understand a battery should last a seasons worth of racing without worry)
Also for $245us you get the transmitter beacon + the USB cable so you can download to your computer
Or alternatively you can purchase the battery powered Mychron one for $207 with 2 "coin" style batteries
...I mean sure having a timer hard wired to the bike will mean it should always work but I'd consider some slightly cheaper options too guys

i'd be more interested in a battery operated one(can swap between bikes etc)..not to concerned bout battery life as long as a set lasts a day thats good nuff for me..
Here's some more info........take note of multiple transmitters fix.
http://www.redracingparts.com/en/english.htm#english/motorbikesmotorcycles/productsandcomponents/chronometerslaptiminglaptimers.php
http://www.mychron.com.au/tgitaly1.htm
http://www.ksrc-au.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=127161&sid=97ed7dfd9058cc0ed8709ba026ab1d3f
Kawasaki guy did this earlier this year and the minimum buy was 10 units @ AU$350 each
Battery operated seems the way to go........no mucking about with wiring.
dungbeetle
28-12-2006, 07:24 PM
yeh i like hard wired to...and ive seen doggys and it looks trik and works good...
hard wiring will take all of 5 mins...if anyone needs a hand doin it, im alweays available with soldering iron and solder at track days!!!
so id like to stik with the one i did the link to....gets to complicated if people want all different stuff...
just interested in whos keen, then ill email them and see what they can do...
o and yeh i want the fork mounted holder and a transponder as well. so ill chase up the whole package...
My current one is a battery operated one & It doesn't work too well! (Not saying yours doesn't work either Daz), but the problem stems from the TX output ability because it is battery 9v battery operated!
What is your current one?
See the thing is the receiver really doesn't require any great amount of power hence a battery receiver should work just as well as a powered one
I think if you've been having troubles its more likely to be because the transmitter was running off small batteries rather than a proper power supply
The only troubles I've had with mine was at EC and that was because I had mounted the receiver upside down :mod_smilie_rockwoot
But yeah whatever works guys! I guess I agree if you've got a pure track bike then yeah sure a hard wired timer is a good idea
I'm in!
Let me know what you decide is best, and who/when to pay...

is it to late to get in on this
dungbeetle
20-01-2007, 03:06 PM
im sorry guys. i have emailed the guy and he is still waiting for an email from the makers of the timer to see if we can order them without the transponder to make it cheaper. ill email him again now and try to find out whats goin on...think we will save a few bux. but if your in a hurry ya prolly should order it yaself...
dungbeetle
24-01-2007, 05:19 AM
ok he got back to me today...price for the timer is $254.95. a saving of $20 without the transponder. the fork holder clamp is $15 and shipping will vary depending on how many we order but wouldnt be more than $20. this is all in u.s. dollars so add about 25% to the total. say $290us comes to about $360aus.
so whos keen. ill send him a number and get a shipping quote...then collect cash and pay him..

TG 6v w/o Beacon = $187.95

TG 6v w/o Beacon = $187.95
TG 12v w/Beacon = $274.95
TG 12v w/o Beacon = $254.95
Can you briefly tell me the difference?
Is 6V battery powered?
Do we need a beacon for it to work?
What other features do they have?
Can a GPS unit do this sort of stuff? (I'm guessing not)
dungbeetle
24-01-2007, 06:34 PM
sorry didnt think of an explanation pan...but it is necesary...
the 6volt ones are battery powered. the 12v are hard wired...
you need a beacon for it to work, but all will work from one beacon, so if one of the group has a beacon, then the rest of us dont need one. hence im not gonna get one cause doggy has one and he is usually at the same track days as me...
theres a link at the start that will tell ya all the features...
and yes i think a gps can, tho i dont know much about them...
VINNIE
24-01-2007, 09:47 PM
I'll have a 12v sucker with Transponder (beacon:lmao: ) + a holder for an R1 (48mm?)
PM me your account details Dungie so I can stick the money in OK. When you get it, I want to pick it up from you. I want it installed & ready to go for the 25th!:mod_smilie_rockwoot
I have what he is having:stupid: but in stead of the mount for his R1 i'll have one with a mount for a ZX9R ???mm
What Vinne said!
Only I don't need mine for the 25th, so I'll pick it up whenever we get together...
Oh, and the mount for a Busa please.

I suggest you guys measure the diameter of the top of your forks so the mounting bracket can be easily ordered and will fit your bike.
Is a transponder and a beacon the same thing Dungie?

25-01-2007, 12:05 PM
When you get them make sure you put the receiver on the right hand side of your bike. We have found a good spot on the outside of the track at Eastern Creek to put the transponder and at Oran park you can stick the bugger on pit wall.

Thanks for the effort Al but Im going to pass on this. Happy just to get to the track when I can & later on going to fit a digital temp gauge, lap timer etc thingy to the Cibbie ......maybe. unless I upgrade to something newer & faster.:mod_smilie_rockwoot

i use a $18 stopwatch from dick smith ductaped to my tank, it remembers 50 laps, good cheaper alternative to a laptimer with transponder etc. at the creek i start/stop it at start of pit wall each lap, as the finish line is too close to turn 1 to press button then turn safely

How many people have transmitters? Would be cool to arrange a split timing set up..

we have spoken about that at op before.. would be cool to see were you can improve like first 6 corners or last 6 :D

I don't quite get it though, can you have too many transmitters? Then you set your 'ignore lap time' too close to your laptimes and then its off because there is a transmitter you're unaware of between your tru lap time and 'ignore lap time', since you start picking up another persons transmitter which you weren't aware of meaning your laptimes are lower?
A mate was telling me on the weekend he saw another transmitter between T3 and T4 on the grass and another one on pit wall outside Pit 1. I think there are heaps out there on the day we/you aren't aware of!
I don't know, does that make sense to anyone? haha
kellz
01-08-2007, 01:56 PM
we usualy only set one up as they all run off that one transponder..
but at ec its hard to get it to read so we place 2 so the bikes can pick up either one they are usually mounted on different sides so one will pick up on the right and the next on the left so technically u only reading one transponder..
Dezerteagle
01-08-2007, 02:06 PM
BUT other people (who aren't RATS) set up their own transmitters on the day too, how do you know you aren't picking up their signals?
jasonbw
01-08-2007, 02:09 PM
If you set your min laptime to be a couple of seconds under your consistent laptime then your safe, in the case of a transponder up the pitwall being within a second of yours then worst case it would only do that potentially for one lap... since it'll start ignoring your transponder... go mostly by your consistent laptimes and all will be good.
Or just dob on the other guys :)

just rang a guy in camden who sells them, he's gonna give me a call back as to how much and also if you can just buy the timer section, as there is always an abundence of transponders out there! would anyone here have a problem with doing it that way?

I see I see.
I guess I'm just curious and asking questions cause I've never done it. I'm sure it all works out fine, that's why you guys do it!
Well I have a Mychron TG but yet to fit / play around with it.

ask away..
something i guess u dont really think about if your getting good times lol..
ec is just hard to find a good pick up point as u have to be discreet in where u put the transponder
lilninja
01-08-2007, 02:29 PM
OK he just rang me back and said he can do them for $470 pretty $$$ he also said he would be willing to knock $100 to $150 off the price if we just wanted the timer but he would only do it for one or two!

Always have a backup timer....the misses :ayyy:
And about spilt timing transmitters, don't they send a different frequency to distinguish them from the start/end of lap transmitter??

01-08-2007, 03:17 PM
Good point Zee, there was something in the manual about the White transponder being only a start/finish one... there may be some other colour for splits ?
Bigdog
01-08-2007, 04:12 PM
Yes you are correct Jason, you have to buy the red transmitters to get splits from different points aound the track.

yeah i thinkall the guys go for the 12v as you dont have to worry about you battery goin flat and losing your recorded PB,
As far as not having a transponder at the track, I dont get to a heap of trackdays so the ones I do go to are RATS ones!
jasonbw
03-08-2007, 02:06 PM
I'm not sure youd feel that way if you bought one.. after the day is over, you know your times and what you did to get them so its no benefit having them in memory. Plus theres so many crap readings from out and in laps, and times when the transponder wouldnt work in sessions etc that clearing it out is quite... calming :)

ok i have a reply from the guy in the states so dont worry about emailing jason
he cant ship them here any more anyway!! here it is
Hi Alex,
I wanted to let you know that we’re not going to be able to send anymore AIM lap timers to Australia. AIM has an agreement with its distributors and we aren’t allowed to ship to Australia anymore because there is already a distributor there.
I do have good news though. We now have a distributor for our holders in Australia so you can get them directly from the dealer. The dealer contact information is:
Ron Burns
AiM Sportsystems
P: +61 2 4283 1855
F: +61 2 4284 9736
M: 0418 4245 60
E: aimsportsystems@iinet.net.au
W: www.aimsportsystems.com.au
If there is anything else I can please let me know.
Thanks again for considering us for your business.
Have a great day,

Got some info.. if its a group buy (i.e. a fair few numbers) then no worries getting to a price like what we had on the last group buy.
If its for one or just a few, then its RRP only of $475 (example being the full 12v kit with transponder) and you can buy that at the bike shops.
So post up if your keen on buying and I can organising a group buy if there are sufficient numbers.
Also, this guy stocks 5 different bracket sizes, so people who got in on the last group buy but got the wrong bracket size (Zee?) you can get those brackets for around the $35 mark from Ron.

Yeap thanks Jbw. As you guys know, I bought mine off pan. Obviously the Busa mounting bracket is to big for the smaller diametre 03 CBR600RR forks. I mounted mine in a different location anyway, so I don't need a bracket.
