He had a lung disease. He was on medication for the pain for 12 months, or something like that I read.
He broke his back 7 times & other bones 40 times..
He did tear a lung a while back during a stunt acco .. I guess from there it just got worse.

Evel & Jackie Chan are of the same ilk .. I dont usual say American styled shit, although yea, "respect"

There might be more to this man than most realise: Story here (http://www.smh.com.au/news/world/evel-knievel-victim-seeks-113m-damages/2007/12/04/1196530621628.html)

I didn't know whether to post this; on the one hand there is this attitide by some people that you must never speak ill of the departed, yet others (me included) believe that a person is the total sum of all their actions whilst alive. We all have good and bad in us, and our choices and actions should determine how we are remembered once we're gone.

Anyhow here's a tribute video I found:

Everyone does stupid things, its how you try to fix it later thats important.. heres a quote from that interview:

He and Knievel never spoke after the attack, Saltman said, though he said the showman approached him over the years through third parties, expressing remorse and offering to settle the judgment

In my eyes Saltman just wanted too much.. apology should have been enough, apology with costs to cover medical even better.. gotta remember Saltman was the one who struck first with a book about him that obviously pissed Knievel off :)

Agree Jason, that's a hell of a lot of money to be asking for a broken arm ... not to mention the fact that the publicity probably helped to see his books to begin with.

My comments were more general in nature, and referred to (from memory) his drug use, alcoholism, anti-semetism. I won't comment re his 'immorality', because that's very subjective and probably no-one else's business.

Cool, were on the same page.

I heard this one the other day from a mate... he said "Whats the difference between alcoholics and me?" answer? "They go to meetings" :)
