Hi boys and girls,
the other day I got the pictures from my last track day, and as many of you know, at the end of the day many of these pictures look the same, over and over, same corner, same bike, same rider.....
In my case though there are some important differences I'd like to share with you, also to encourage whoever has never been to the track to experience it!
I ride a naked bike, and the riding position of the naked bike is pretty upright, quite comfy, like you're on a dirt bike, with that wide handlebar....
First time on track I looked like this..... (Sept. '07)
I had never been to a track before, therefore I was riding as I would have done on the road.......

and then, 4 month later, same corner, same bike, same rider....
http://home.exetel.com.au/daniloinaustralia/Concert%20Dic%202007%20012_800x531M.jpg
Much more weight forward, body and head leaning towards the inside of the corner, forearms parallel to the ground, better feet position
LESS LEANING --> SAFER
Still a lot of room for improvements..... but the message is clear, it worked for me..... GET OUT TO THE TRACK :ayyy:

Great thread DanOZ,
How do you find your road riding now? any changes? Do you now take less risks, or have more control over the problems that rise etc?
Should have also included that photo showing how you can now ride EC with your eyes closed!

Definately agree with your comments, Dan- I see the same in pics of me taken over last 12 months. I definately 'set up' better for cornering on the roadie now too and feel more confident braking and in day to day rides. Track days:ayyy: :ayyy: :ayyy:

Hi Dan
Have you gotten your knee down riding anything else before??
Reason I ask is because on the naked bike I wouldn't say it's easy compared to gixxer or something. Especially due to this things seat height and width of the bars.
As you know I’ve got naked bike too and isn’t the first one so next time you have truck day try to make sure that your outside knee is tucked into the tank, and you right arm is resting allong the tank ,drop your inside shoulder and turn you head so you are looking past your exit and stick your knee out to point to the rear of the bike.It is not very comfortable till you get used to it and correct your position to suit.
I do not advise trying this on the road till you can do it with confidence as you will not be leaving much room for error, wait till you get to the track it will happen, but you must concentrate one one thing only.If you are trying to smash the track lap record, this is not the time to learn getting the knee down,if you no what i mean.
Prova e una "figata" Sorry for the French hahahaha

Putting my knee down is not a priority at this stage. As you can see in the second picture I'm not leaning much, (you can tell from how far the pegs are from the ground).
I disagree with you on it being easier on my Triple than on more track oriented bikes. On the Triple the rider is seating much higher than on sports bikes, and the handlebar/pegs position makes the leaning/moving forward unconfortable. If you look at pictures of riders racing on the Triple Cup on Speed Triples, they all have a lower handlebar, and racing rearsets that allow feet to be moved substantially backwards, and naturally get your knee forward and down (and your weight forward).

When are we gonna meet for a ride, or even for just a coffee? Let me know.

Good thread Dan, and good pics :ayyy:
Should I post pics of myself, so that others see how NOT to ride?
