Just thought I'd remind everyone that the Bike Nights at WSID are resuming on the first Wednesday of each month...

Anyone else going to this?

(didn't know whether to post this on the "Track Days" or "Road Rides" section)

I wouldn't mind finding out how fast the 10 goes with lower gearing..
But that'll have to wait till I register it!

Hmmmm, so are the first Wednesday of the month only for bikes? I've never been.

Their website seems to say you can drag bikes or cars every Wednesday:-
http://www.wsid.com.au/MajorEvent.asp?Event=Wicked&Page=Basics

Soooo... I've never been to a dragstrip, guess I'd be keen to check it out and maybe give it a go me thinks... :ninja:

I'm with Dungy. Just show up with normal tyre pressure, etc, and have fun. If you launch and find you're losing grip, then try lower tyre pressure, etc...

Whether you want advice or not, you'll get it if you show up to race from all of us... We love giving advice. :)

Trust me. Take my advice. I'm not using it anyway.

I wouldn't be too worried about it Wardy.
I went for the first time last month and I like you was full of questions.
I just treated it like a set of traffic lights, Light went green and I went, didn`t even rev it, just rode off like I normally do and did a 10.4 on my second run.
Its an easy game :lmao:

Hmm, what are the requirements for the rider/bike to enter?
Would like to get around to seeing what times i can pull up, never done the drags before.

Kat00
08-01-2007, 11:29 PM
Road worthy bike, Helmet gloves and license and I think that is it.

Cleverlie
08-01-2007, 11:32 PM

Kat00

Cleverlie
08-01-2007, 11:36 PM
Alright and its $45 to enter, guess i will squeeze some practise in on those private roads before i get the courage up to go onto the strip.:shifty:

dungbeetle
09-01-2007, 05:50 AM
yeh mate...$45 to enter, get there at 430 and lane split all the cars so the bikes get in first. i wear my work pants, king gees, steel cap boots and a textile jacket, helmet and gloves....
if im coming from home i put the leathers on but they aint neccesary. no oil leaks, brakes work, chain correctly tensioned. thats about it. line up, have fun...
like pan said, we are all full of advice out nthere that we rarely use, so just ask!!:D or find someone thats actually fast and ask him!!:D

MadHatter
09-01-2007, 06:01 AM
You can wear jeans but you won't go as fast because your balls will feel the air flowing past them and shrivel up.

Cheers guys.

Have another question though, will they accept my bike if I've still got race glass on it?

dungbeetle
09-01-2007, 06:07 AM
race glass is fine...as long as ya trailer it there!!!!
cause youll be riding home in the dark...or ya could follow me home!!

pan
09-01-2007, 08:56 AM
So how about we make it more interesting and talk-up a few grudge matches then, hey?

Hatter VS Kat00?

Dungy VS Fire-brigade?

Pan VS "Closing time at 10:30pm"

Actually, I'd like to challenge Girlie!

Come on out Girlie. I'm not afraid of you (in a straight line, anyway).
I'll bet you a bag of hot chips (best of 3).

Thanks for the offer, but I'll make sure it's on the trailer...Don't need to be attracting any attention from the cops. Haven't been pulled over on the bike yet (had the lights flashing, sirens blazing as they fade into the distance a few times though).

hey wardy, it is an awsome night out there, with my bike, the only change i made was to the rear suspension, and that was simply tweeking it up as hard as it would go, and i managed to get down from 11.00 to 10.3, but yeah, just get out there and have fun, after all that's what all bike riding is about.

60 footer???
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

I was there tonight. Managed a few 10.7's but 60 foot was only 2.0
I gave it heaps in one run and 60 foot was 1.9, but I lost traction and went sideways almost all through first gear, backed off them on again... ended up a 12.1.

How about we compromise and make it 330 foot?

i just imagine that im next to some wanker in a skyline/wrx that i just want to beat off the lights and just leave the line in that manner, then i just get it going almost to redline and go from there :)

Thats not losing traction Pan, this is losing traction
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a356/cas3234/QLDShootout2.jpg

Thats at Willowbank at their last Sportsbike Shootout, it was 38 degrees and the track surface was over 65 degrees, the rubber was melting off the track.
I fishtialed the full length and went across the finish line still spinning in 6th.

Willowbank is a hole though... only thing i think its good for is burnouts its no good for times... i got mates that have 11 and 12 second cars that cant break the 13 barrier there something seriously wrong witht that track!!!!

pan
01-02-2007, 08:28 PM
CAS is breaking traction because he's got about 500 HP running on his turbo Busa and would break traction anywhere...! ...though I HAVE heard Willowbank is crappy too!
