Congrats to BigB who, using the evil eye technique to demolish the competition, walked away with the 2004 GSXR1000 that had pretty much only fairing damage for $4,000 !!!

If you're bidding, don't go there with rose coloured glasses... you'd see a LOT of Lebs with a sarcastic attitide and they did smart bidding, you'd also see a few giggle-pot kids bidding in a stupid way buying crap like those two 98 and 99 model R1's for what was it.. like $3250 and $2600 for completely destroyed pieces o shite!

I'd be interested in hearing from someone who often goes, just to learn what to look out for in the auction process, and if there are any tips (not bike related, I know what to look for there mainly)

Hmmm, I thought that price was okay considering it only had 738km on the clock. From the photos it looked like fairing only damage and I thought a set of race fairings would fix the problem. Brand new track bike for $8000 or brand new road bike for $9500?????

$9500 is too close to 2nd hand prices for that model... i.e. ex demos (http://www.bikesales.com.au/as/search/sd.do?recIndex=11&makeID=42&modelID=909&page=0&selectedModelIndex=109&y=4&sortOrder=7&selectedMakeIndex=42&previousResultPerPage=20&x=5)can be had for the sticker price of $12,800 ride away... no doubt better if negiotiated. There no warranty and a heap of risk, esp if the bike looks so nice. Its only my opinion but at the auction you're after bargains to outweigh the risk, not just great deals? I could be off in my thinking tho.

If its as a trackie, then oh yeah, thats good enough to warrant the $$$$.

If you're bidding, don't go there with rose coloured glasses... you'd see a LOT of Lebs with a sarcastic attitide and they did smart bidding, you'd also see a few giggle-pot kids bidding in a stupid way buying crap like those two 98 and 99 model R1's for what was it.. like $3250 and $2600 for completely destroyed pieces o shite!

I'd be interested in hearing from someone who often goes, just to learn what to look out for in the auction process, and if there are any tips (not bike related, I know what to look for there mainly)

Did ya notice the stuff up with the auctioneer on the 05 gixer.
The pole boy had it on the gixer & the auctioneer was calling bids on the zx12.In the end the gixer got missed & its still there.

Those R1's (98 and 99 model) went for stupidly expensive prices but yeah, your right, the more later model the bike was the better the deal, esp if you want it for track only !

i picked up the trackie at the other auctions at milperra RRO, $4,200 GST etc included, all that was needed to re-register was blinkers. The guy at blacktown disposal and i were bidding for it. It was a RRO cause it had a bent peg, broken blinker, blinged up, Nickel coat, vortex cap etc etc. they prob said to much to replace, i believe it was dropped (real low speed) and scratched the paint and broke the above.
