Hey everyone!
Alot of you are in to track days. I have heard that they can be as relaxed as you want them, or as full on as you want them to be.
So i was wondering if anyone could run me threw a typical track day, say from the time you pull up there and what you do till the time you drive away thinking you just came as close to heaven as you will ever get!
A bal park figure on time would be nice to, so the day when im able to getto the track i'll have an idea of what's going on.
Thanks everyone. :ayyy:

Mate to be quite honest its a day spent waiting. I try to get there early, but travelling down from Newcastle it rarely happens, but its a good idea so your not rushing around 2 minutes before you are supposed to be out on the track.
Turn up & get the bike off trailer/ute & find a garage.
I set up camp chairs, esky & get all the shit I need out of the car. ie Leathers, helmet, boots & gloves, tyre pressure gauge, pump, duct tape, tools, stands, fuel drum, etc, etc. (Maybe you should ask people what they take to the track? I have plastic box on wheels with everything I need jammed into it.)
Then head down to pits to fill out paper work & grab wrist band, they have different coloured bands for each group.
Get the bike scrutineered, they look at brakes, levers, tyres, make sure the throttle snaps back, that sort of shit.
Then down the end of pit lane for the riders briefing, takes bout 5 minutes.
Then I put on my leathers, grab a gatorade & smoke, then sit & wait.
You get 20 minute sessions on the track for each group. So with 4 groups that means 1 hour between rides. 20 minutes seems like 10 on the track & the hour long wait to head back out takes 90 minutes.
This waiting part turns out to be time you meet people, tell lies & listen to their lies. Ha.
This is why I reckon RATS is such a great idea. It feels like you are spending all day waiting cos you are. This way I will be puttin faces to the names & already have a heap of people to chat with & kill some waitin time.
I cant wait to get down to the track & meet people I now know by strange nicknames. One thing bout bike riders is they are a friendly bunch.
Like I said Shane its turn up & sort your shit out. Wait, ride, wait.....repeat.
If you start pacing the garage all tense you will be rooted after 2 laps on the track. Sit back & use the time to your advantage, relax & enjoy the experience. Mate once you are on the track time flies.
If its your 1st time at the track or like me dont get to ride all that often it really takes it out of you.
Dont forget to eat brakfast & drink plenty of water & gatorade.
Once you have done your last session pack up & split.
There you go mate, I will stop there before it becomes a novel I reckon you get the idea. Why dont you head out to a RATS day & see it for yourself, that way you will be on top of your game & know what to expect when its time to lose your virginity.:ayyy:

Nice write mate. :ayyy:
Just reading about it i get all excited and can't wait till i can get down to the track for my very first track day.
I'm trying to get down to the 14th at the creek but it's having to be dependant on my mates to drive me down seeing as i can't ride at the moment. Plus most of them don't like bikes... yeh i know idiots huh!
So i'll be down there like a shot if i have access!
You're right about bike riders being friendly everyone i've met of this site have been awesome, so helpful and nice.
Look forward to meeting and ridng with as many as i can over then next few months.

pretty much what dunno said....but ya get there about 8...830 at the latest cause the rider brief is at about 845 and ya wanna be ready to go by then. usually first session goes out about 9 and that is the slow group at e.c. and the fast group at oran and wakefield....
then like dunno said, session then wait. tho my waiting time is usually spent either fixing my own bike, or someone elses!! then off again...chase up some water between sessions...and talk lotsa shit!!!:D
i dont think i have ever done the last session at a track day caiuse ive either broken the bike, or just plain rooooooooooted!! but i usually hang around to help pack up and talk more shit....then get outa there about 5 in the arvo...
head home, get maccas for me and cody on the way...unload bike and gear, and sleep like a baby!!!

I get up about 04.30 for a 05.15 depart
Stop at Macca`s on pennent hills rd for a wee wee stop :)
Arrive at the track about 07.30.
Unload my gear into the back corner(preferably) of the pit area
sign bike and myself in.
Walk over and piss mono and yella off :D :D :D :D
usually sit on the pit wall walkway with bigdog during the riders briefing
Walk back to the pits ,sit in a chair and chill out.Have a drink.
1/2 wat thru the session before I go out I put my leathers on.When they call for my session thats when I put gloves, helmut etc on.
Get tyre warmers and stands off etc.
ride the session
Come back in put bike on stands, warmers back on.
Take off leathers again (helps to keep you cooler during the day I have found
Talk bout how great that session was,how I still F**k up T2 ,grab a powerade, something to eat, then after 15 mintues sit back down and chill out.Or lately been going for a walk with the gf and sussing out diffrent parts of the track, when the gates are opened.
I usually sit out the 4th session, ride thru till the lkast session or 16.00 then I have a shower and come back and load the bike and ute (now new trailer) up and head home.Get back to Maitland about 18.30 and have to unpack all the crap.
Walk around with a huge grin for 3 weeks after woulds.

Its pretty well covered.
As fast or as slow as you want to go Shane and the more times you do it, the faster you will want to go.
Dunno description was pretty good.
Adrenalin on the track. Bullshiting to your mates in the pits.
Sorry about the comment it was a rather quick lol when I checked out the thread...
Don't take it all too seriously
Every single guy out there in the slow group is also probably doing their first track day and also has absolutely no idea about whats going on
Just sign up and read all the stuff they send you and go from there!
follow all the directions correctly and you'll probably find yourself on a race track on a motorbike (hopefully your own one) and follow the track its pretty hard to get lost ;)

i wouldnt say that it's hard to get lost daz, at E.C for instance, i've seen many a person take a wrong turn through turn 2 and 9:confused1: and at O.P i've seen people miss the turn off entirely at turn 1..:lmao:
but nah shane, what everyone has written about track days is pretty spot on, but what it's really all about, is getting out there having a squirt and most of all to have FUN.
see you out there soon mate.

You will love it Shane.
The only negative I can think of is that road riding can seem not as much fun after you experience track riding.

i dont know about that, the track is fun and i intend to do a lot more of it but i prefer the thrill of the road ride and having more unknown quantities, like whats around that blind 45 k corner, bah who cares 2nd gear full throttle it is :stupid:
