Folks,
I've been waiting to get my brand new Suzuki V strom for 3 months and today I picked it up from Action in Parrammata...Yeee Ha I thought but not for long

I was riding back along Victoria road towards Rydalmere and drove passed my turning for going back to work. OK I thought I would drive to the next and turn in to South Street from there. So I come to the traffic lights ( having never used this next turning before !) and move into the slip lane to turn right. I as I come to a stop at the line I look at the lights and see the sign next to it saying 'No Turning right except buses'. Sh*t I thought and I looked over my shoulder to see if I could rejoin the main traffic but it was far to busy. I thought I will have to wait it out but just then the lights turned green with a green right arrow and so I turned and drove about 60 meters then the siren form the cop car sounded and the lights. I stopped and the cop gets out and tells me I’m on video and being recorded. He asked did I know what I had done to which I told him I just picked the new bike up ( less than 4 k on the odo) and that I was coming back to work and explained about the wait at the light etc and trying to get back into traffic. He said that I should have waited to rejoin the main traffic line which is what I tried to explain to him. Anyway he smiled as he come back from his car with my licence and said that I would get 2 points and $195 fine I said your kidding to which he smiled and said 'That's the way the cookie crubles' and walked off. - I didnt need that remark !!!!

That put the knockers on my special day---- Not happy Jan !!!

I feel like appealing but not sure what to do any advice would be appreciated fellow RATS.

Cheers
Geordie :cursing:

My current bike was 50K`s old and was defected because the copper had never seen the stock K5 exhaust.......Had to blue slip the brand new bike to clear the defect......So I know how you feel.

Crap Geordie, thats shite! If you have 10 years clean record then appeal will likely work, otherwise I've heard you just don't bother. I started reading thinking I'm about to hear you picked her up then lost your license... so... I guess you can think positive :D :D

BTW, you are allowed break the speeding law if you can prove you were in danger if you didnt speed... so, maybe use that line, I know its not speed related but you felt fear that you were going to be collected from behind, so you moved on...

I always try and write a letter - I dont think they cant fine you more (unless you ask to go to court) and the more time they spend replying to letters the less time they are out raising revenue... It cant hurt...

If he was recording you when you explained yourself I don't think you have much latitude re making up another excuse.
Isn't it great that they're always around to help when they're needed? What a great bunch of guys, those pr1cks.

Had a very similar story. but for me it was 2 blocks away from dropping of a R6 which was being sold.. no right turn during peak hour, which there is a whole lane dedicated to turning, i just read the road markings, not the signs on side of the road.

Cop also thought i was running away from him, since i didn't see his lights in the mirrors until i turned 200 meters down the road.

Seriously though, I think there are good people and bad people, good cabbies and bad cabbies, good electricians and bad electricians, good cops and bad cops.

I've come across plenty of good cops and had more than my share of "let offs", so I guess I'm just not as bitter as others.

I wouldn't want to do their job though...

Did you actually get the ticket on the spot or did they say they would post it out?

They might just be trying to put the wind up ya... I've had this happen before.

What a way to ruin a good day. Sorry to hear.
Sounds like when I got my first bike. I was on my L's at the time. Rode around the corner to the start of the M4 and was absolutey shitting myself taking on the 30ks or so to get home. New bike, little to no experience and cars all around me. A bike copper saw this from the other direction, he did a U-turn, pulled me over and booked me for no L plate! No sympathy from a fellow rider, I couldnt believe it. Welcome to the world of motorcycles. He said if I was going to ride like a learner then Id better put L plates on.

Cheers folks for the comments- Im defo going to appeal this one... the Mrs went ape shit when I got home...bless her wee Scottish socks she called him all the Cu*ts of the world.. I think he now has some sort of Scottish HEX on him.. So look out for an item on 'Today Tonight' about witch craft and a coppers Co*k being bitten off by a rabid cookie eating rotty - thats if he has one to be bitten off !!!

Put a whole cloud on the day for me... first new bike and all !

Anyway will get over it and move on after I see the video evidence and his evidence in court as well as putting my case.

I'll keep you posted, by the way he verbally said that a ticket would be issued.

Cheers

Geordie, this is great news. If he didn't give you a ticket on the spot (or a court attendance notice, or something in writing) he's just trying to scare you. I doubt you'll ever hear from him again.

You lucky bastard ... why didn't you say this to begin with? Mate most likley you've got nothing to worry about; cops are lazy, I doubt he will be bothered with the paperwork if he didn't write it there and then.

thats crap. it's labelled on the pipe stating it's a suzuki pipe and with a sticker stating its compliance for factory pipe. this would be very easy to claim the cost back from the coppers. i doubt you would even need to goto court unless you wanted compensation for your time.

Regarding the GSXR, could you get the service book / manual from under the seat and show him a picture of the bike on the cover?

:ninja:

Guys, so you reckon that the copper might be just be trying to put the the shits up me... the reason I ask is that when he took my license in to his car and held it up to the camera in the car, think was maybe to take a photo or something of it I guess - dunnno. Anyway glimmer of hope from all your comments cheers.

Another thing when he go out of the car he was not wearing a HIgh visibility vest I called up work cover but they said they are only required to war them if they are doing road side stops such as RBT's etc. I thought they had to wear them all the time when at roadside... When I told the guy at workcover the reason for the call even he called the copper a Bastard..

Hope I can get on the road with you guys soon blame her in doors for the timing...

Cheers
Geordie
