Helpfull tip on removing the stearing head bearing seats(collers) out of the head stock of your bike. After two days of bashing and getting nowhere:storm: I asked the local bike shop, how do you get them out? and they told me to run a weld around the face of them and they will fall out. So I did and they shrunk and two little taps and they fell out:mod_smilie_rockwoot , So easy. A good One to remember.

2 days !!!! :dohsmiley:
why didnt you just come to us in the first place.
You would have gotten 100 different contradictory bits of advice and still end up calling the bike shop in the end.
Dont let this happen again Mozzie, if your going to wreck your bike by working on it WE want to know about it first OK :rules:
And before you put the new sleev on, put the yoke in the freezer so that it shrinks & the sleev will slide over it easyer...:ayyy:

Funny but true :dohsmiley:
Not everybody has the tools so there are many ways to remove them.
1. heat so they expand like the weld option but weld splatter can mark up your triple if not carfull. oxy can damage the paint coating.
2. grinding the ring is a good option & same thing the grinding adds heat to ring so you don't need to grind completely through & if you just do cut marks there good for the cold chisel to sit in.
3. I use a press because the lower triple clamp stem is press fit into triple so press that out & bearing ring comes off with it. then press the steam back in (apply some thread lock as well) & then press new bearing on.
what catches people out is the stem is a press fit & while they start hitting new bearing on without a block directly under stem it can slightly dislodge from its seating position.

The fastest way I've seen is to just gather a couple of household items, firstly some refridgeration gas, cigarette lighter, carbon, potassium nitrate, sulpher, polyethylene bar stock, a standard pedestal fan and a 240v power source.
First, sprinkle the carbon, potassium nitrate and sulpher onto the upper surface of the bearings, then, ensuring a pedestal fan is on high and pointing horizontally across the upper flat to create a venturi effect (pulling the fridge gas upwards through the assembly later) Heres where you hold a standard cigarette lighter to a rod of polyethylene to drip molten plastic over the top of the bearings while spraying the fridge gas under them and at the same time use a standard 240v source to complete the trio of forces by putting the neutral to earth and the active to the bearings.
The explosion is sure to remove the bearings!
^^^:lmao: :lmao: ......holyshit
