Alright ive got some things to work out but im really trying to be able to do this track day.
I have a near enough bald rear tyre so i'll need that changed.
Alright, how much for them to change tyres over down there?
I've just gotta decide if i should do the first track day on slicks or road tyres. If im going slicks then i'll need the front done aswell, do they prefer the tyres to be off the bike or can you just take the bike to them and they do the rest?

mate, unless your riding your bike on the road still, go slicks:ayyy: and it's easy enough to take the rims off a bike yourself to get the tyres changed:ayyy:
Cleverlie
16-02-2007, 08:24 PM
i know its easy to take the rims off, i just don't have to equipment.
Does slicks go alright on the road?

they do work well on the road, as long as you dont get a wet road or copers dont see ya:lmao:

i thought slicks worked like shit on the road unless your really hauling ass to warm them up to good temps? Otherwise it's pretty icy?

I'm working on this date. I guess that makes me a definite. Most productive use of sick leave that I've ever thought of. See you guys there.
Al I'll PM you and sort out the money after Tuesday. I don't really like to book in for the next track day until I've completed the current bookings. That way if I come off and destroy the bike or myself, I at least haven't lost any money on future bookings
Positive thinker eh!

john b and I are pretty interested in another - can we use the same 'trackie' if one goes in C and one in D? If so, are the bank details same as the one used for the 6th? Is there a place in each group still?
Thanks

once you have done the buzz with the powers to be that run things here, you turn up at the track on time ready to ride. Meet like minded people who will answer any questions or lend any help needed. I havent found a rat in the pack so to speak
some small things to remember: bring full leathers, bike in good working order, money for extra fuel etc, your brain which means no hangover from night before.

Hey Bart... re the dig rev counter... it is the Veypor2 www.veypor.com it has a manual and distance calculated lap timer in it, but also has an added option of having an IR one installed also. It is also a speedo and gear pos indicator, i just had not bothered calibrating it for that day..... cya on the 29th :)

I'd like to come along with John (Dezerteagle) if there is anymore room?
I know at EC they have the slow group how does this work at Oran Park, I don't want to get in the way if everyone is going flat out. I mean I can ride but I'm only on a DRZ400SM so 150km/h top speed is frustrating.

Woo Hoo!!, the weather is supposed to be 22 degree's with a little cloud.
Just remember to take it easy on the early sessions peeps as the grip is a little down at OP that time of day.
The garages are a little smaller than at EC so I suggest we line our bikes up at 45 degree angles or there abouts. You'll have more room and it will be much less cluttered that way.

To be honest, I hated the track at first. But as I got used to my new suspension settings - THE OLD GAL TURNS IN NOW! - I really started having a blast. Can't wait til the 25th, now, and I'm almost a certainty to back up on the saturday (if the little lady will allow it).

Some tips because I know :ayyy:
During work any money you would spend on lunch don't put it away.
When you go for a beer instead of say 5 only have 3 & put the rest away.
Lose change collect it before anyone else.
Pull the batt lead off the car, so when wife goes to drive it wont start, then after having a look tell her it needs repairs (how much you fake is your buzz).
You wouldn't believe how fast you save enough for a track bike, then when you buy it no funds are removed from bank wife knows about so a mate gave it to you & get a friend to say they did. Bingo no stress track bike & once you have it you will find it very hard for the wife to say you can't use it if it cost nothing wink wink.
Just remember I didn't say any of that :lmao:

Bart what can i say,i had a tear running down my eye to see that beautiful Z1000 with some battle scares on her.I have spoken with Bart and he was about to go into X-Ray and from what the quack said sounds like he has a broken collar bone :(

David  for cooking Breakfast ( you did a better job than me)
Fingers  for cooking a mean lunch and for helping me with the loading of the bikes ( i,m sorry i stepped on your toe )
Guys,
Just a short note to let everyone know I am ok. I have broken the left collar bone in half and will need to see an orthepedic surgeon later this week. Kell, I was really hoping that it was only bruised.
A big thank you for the kind assistance that everyone offered, especially Vinnie (you are a champion), who arranged to get my bike to Mattk6's. Many thanks to Truimph & Kaz for staying with me at the medical centre.
Basically the crash was due to me losing the back end on the right turn before the bridge. In the previous sessions the rear was skipping out (but controlled) but not this time. I backed off the throttle and it tried to throw me over the bars.
I was more worried about my exhaust when I crashed........go figure.
Tht bike picked up damage on the left hand side with a nice dent in the tank....ouch!
Cheers

Well it was a day of mixed fortunes today. The first couple of sessions were pretty sketchy with mud, water and oil on the track in various spots. I gave A grade a go today and by the third session was really enjoying myself and managed to pull off a PB of 1:24.8.
As always it was a tops day riding with new and old Rats alike. Great bunch of people and everyone seemed to be having a blast throughout the day.
Unfortunately we had a few crashes today but I think the worst injury was a broken collarbone by Bart. The bikes looked a little worse for wear but the riders were mostly ok and generally in good spirits.
Thanks heaps for all the behind the scenes work by the BBQ staff and a huge thank you to Al (Dungbeetle) for the organising and running of the day. Good job mate and I'll see some of you at the next event at EC race school on the 10th May.

had an awesome day guys, first trackday with my new rats laptimer... pretty schmicko i tell ya. (when you remember to turn it on) the first three sessions i didn't remember till bout two laps to go.
was my second trackday at OP and the timer says i was running 1.29 flat for the six laps i had the thing turned on in the first three sessions. Then in the fourth ran a 1.26.20 with a string of 1.27's to back it up.
My tyres are a mixed pair, got a bt002 on the front that i have done 6 track days on and about 2000 hard road klicks and a rear pilot power with 5 track days and bout 800 hard road kays on. Think its time to swap them out but they are still looking good.

Started out a bit ordinary with a little opps at turn 5 , must have looked ok though as the guy who was behind me gave me a big thumbs up the next lap around.
After eplacing the front brake lever, some quick repairs to the fairing (gotta love race tape) & finally some fresh rubber it was back out to have some fun. Think I have convinced Chad to step up to A grade next time so lets hope he doesnt have the flu & we can all get a nice group happening there.

So cant blame anyone but me. Just real glad that no one hit it. BIG thanks to Zee who saw it happen and jumped onto the track to pick it up, top stuff. Managed to run the muffler over too, crumpled the inlet bit up, scratched and dinted, and tore big gashes in the rear tyre. So i wont be riding again for a bit. Going to go over the whole bike before i do anyway and make sure everything is done up real good. I've been lucky so far, dont want any more mishaps.
As for that right hander coming onto the bridge, i had a few slides there myself. First one i near high sided as i shit myself and took the throttle off. Definatly not a wise move. Got lucky though and kept going. I was coming round the corner just after that z1000 came down. Hope you heal up soon mate. Cheers all.

im gonna organise a group for queens bday long weekend. just waiting on confirmation of price...
Guys,
Just to let everyone know that I had the op on Monday and everything went well.
My left collarbone now has a plate and 7 screws in it for the next 6 months but I now have movement with the shoulder and will be back at work next week.
It will be about 3-4 months before I am back on the bike so this gives me plenty of time to fix it.
Again....... thanks to all that helped out on the day, It was greatly appreciated.
Got the bike home on Friday from MattK6's and considering everything the damage isn't that bad.
Will be looking for some direction on fixing the bike shortly as I have no idea where to start.
Cheers
Bart

Glad to hear you're on the road to recover mate.
Can I ask, with Collarbones, how is broken usually? Landing on your shoulder?

A couple of ways though sharp impact to the point of your shoulder does it mostly. Also if you are falling & put your arm out & land awkwardly....... been there done that one, bugger.:hatter:

I dunno, all i remember is changing into second, then looking around to see my bike a few feet from me, ran over, grabbed the bar that was on the bround side and went to lift, but my right arm just sorta stretched a bit further.........Then i had to sit down for a while :hatter:
Good to hear surgery went well for ya Bart :ayyy:
As soon as the pain shits over, you'll be back on the bike again :ninja:

My favourite part was when the Doctor told me the collar bone "isnt a very important bone" So I shouldnt worry too much that it now looks like a dogs breakfast:(

any impact on the arear or anything which compresses the bone in any way shape or form...
the coloor bone is quite thin compared to the major arm and leg bones so breaks easily but is also repaired easily...
