Does anyone know where I can get an Akrapovic Carbon Hex muffler professionally shortened?
I'm hesistant to do it myself as it's brand new.

I searched around for you, found 3-4 specialists but they're all in Brisbane for some reason. Weird.

Maybe a place like this could do it? http://www.budget-exhaust.com/contact

Hope it helps.

Dennis Foran in West Gosford said he could do it for $120.
I think I'll go give him a visit.

You could try Woolfs at 4 unit 16a Ethel Rd Kirrawee 95213488 or 0411540350.

Wear a face mask.
And gloves, the fibreglass packing is itchy shit..

Do it yourself John, its piss easy, I did mine ( yoshi on the K6) and the hardest part was starting.

A quick run through on how I did mine, it worked for me anyway :).

Can removed, pop rivets drilled out, a dummy cut done to make removal of cap easier ( its a bastard ).

As shown here, first cut made, genuine marked out, but not touched untill cap is removed carefully, and mesh wire on the inside of can also shortened, otherwise it wont fit. ( by the way, the pading on the inside of can and outside of meshed wire is itchy shit :o )

Cap gently, carefully and properly fitted, blind rivets used, and fit back on :p (did I mention refitting the cap back on is a carnt ? )

Did you use a cut off wheel on a dremel to do that? Nice work.. Bigdog I guess you don't have to be absolutely perfect in the cut, small jagged edges would hide behind the cap right Johnny ?
Good hint about the fiberous material, maybe wear gloves eh.

I did both of mine the same way as Johnny.......if using a 4" grinder make sure you use those "Thin" blades, they wil go through like butter..

Hey Biggy i just realised you said it was a CF muffler....use a tile cutting blade on a 4" grinder, that what i used to do my CF one..

Like Turtle, 4 inch grinder with a cutting disc mate.
Honestly, the hardest part is starting..

Sweet, thanks mate.

John, i wrapped a piece of straight cardboard around the muffler and marked a straight line then as i said used a tile cutting blade (the ones which are stael with NO slots but "Grit" around them), if you need one you can use mine.....:ayyy:

i used those thin arse cutting disks when i cut down my carbon cans on the tls
plus wrap some masking tape around you cut line it seems to stop the can splintering while you do the cut

Thats why i used the tile cutting blade, no splintering, as recommended by a CF manufacturer...
