yes, it's 'Better Homes and Garden' (groan) , but they're making a foldable trailer which looks a lot like the ones they sell for motorcycles.

I'm looking for a trailer right now ...

I paid $550 for a second hand 7 x 5 trailer with cage and rack to jerry cans. Fold away trailers look cheap and are generally suitable for one purpose.

Each to their own though

I only have one purpose for it .... and issues with storage space. Looks like the solution for me, although I met a guy at EC who had one of these, set up for two bikes and he paid $ 900 for it second hand, so shit those options (wheel bases????) must be expensive ...

The front wheel auto lock wheel base thingo's cost around $200 each.. But so damn easy to tie the bike down etc, with one person (and more so since the track bike doesn't have a side stand)

I have one of these, slightly larger version, 7 x 5. Does the job nicely for me and folds and stores in my garage tucked out of the way. It will be at OP on the 27th if you want to crawl around it :)

Is it just me, or do the wheels on them things look like wheelbarrow wheels on steriods ?

Are they safe for LONG journeys ?

My brother borrowed the trailer and did 600k's in one day with it..

Nice....so they are safe. When seeing how easy it looked to tie your bike down, it did look VERY easy, great little things.

Found their website, downloaded their catalog. It doesn't look too bad to me:

Base 6x4 trailer $ 500.00
Timber floor $ 100.00
2 x wheel things $ 90.00
Ramp $ 44.00

Total $ 734.00

I would use a couple of tyre downs, and that should be that. Oh and maybe a spare wheel for $ 90 ...

Yes, I've looked into these, and was just about to place the order. Before I did, I thought I should just check to see how much it would cost to put a towbar on our car...

$1800. Yes, $1,800. It's a VW Golf. You effectively need to rewire the car, and reprogam the computer. Shhiiiiiittt.

I'm buying a second hand van when I come back from o/s.

If I remember it wasn't me tying the bike down, but Ibishu. And you standing there flabbergasted about a female loading up two bikes on a trailer by herself :)

I just bought a 6 x 4 easy trailer. I got the steel checker plate floor instead of the crappy wooden one.
You have to assemble the trailer yourself and it's pretty easy but it takes a day to assemble.
With a spare wheel, delivery, checker plate floor and front wheel channel, it cost me $840. They threw in the eye bolts for my tyre down. (normally $30)
It's fairly pricey but it's small, light weight and can be folded up and put away.
I will be at the 11th October trackday at Ec if anyone wants to see it.

+1 Bigdog, I will probbaly be riding that day but even if I'm not, I will come past to see it ...
I was also thinking about the steel floor instead of the wood, but does it make it heavier?

I'm dissapointed over the assembly bit, fark I must be lazy :lmao:

PS. What's involved in getting is registered? How much?

I bought one of these before I had the van. As Bigdog said you do have to put it together yourself, took me a whole day. Then you just take it to get a blueslip and register it at the RTA.

Johnny - I drove from Newcastle to the Sunshine Coast and back in 24 hours to pick up a bike, about 1800km, and it handled fine. Sits on 130kmh fine as well.

Saying that the Van shits all over a Trailer. :ayyy:

What type of van? you might be onto something there, given that I not only have issues with storage but I cannot get a trailer in and out of my stupidly tight driveway.
Can you transport 2 bikes by van?

Bought a 99 VW Transporter SWB. It easily fits my bike plus toolbox, fuel can, box of crap, spare tyres, stands, ramp and riding gear in the back.

I don't know if you would fit 2 bikes plus crap in the SWB but you could probably do it in the LWB version. Don't know how you'd go tieing down 2 bikes either. I'm sure someone else has done it though.

I used the Trailer for a good 12 months but I'll never go back. Now I can get home from work on a Friday arvo and be packed and ready to go to the Track in 30 mins, couldn't get close to that with the trailer.

Have seen two bikes in a lwb hiace, plus etc's, so can be done easily.

Van would be the better option, easier to store in, lock up, no wether or stone chips to worry about, but if only using for transporting bikes to and from track, rego costs etc when compared with trailer, would hurt I'd imagine.

I bought a 97 ford transit LWB, easily fits 2 bikes without needing to fod the rear seats down. I dare say if you didn't use the rear seat you could even get three bikes in but forget about gear. Another reason I bought the transit is we can sleep 3 inside it when we do an overnight visit for a race so it saves me paying accomodation. Either in the back with a matress assuming bikes are dropped off in garages, or else if not the rearset is a comfortable bench and both front seats still fully recline, so you can sleep in them but its a bit like an airline bed. i used to use a traikler which I've still got but my wife got annoyed with me taking the family car, and it took me a lot longer to secure everything in the trailer. The van's a bit of an eyesore though.

Your van is huge, Goose. Incidentally, I noticed it today for the first time at the front of your place.

The trouble is I fitted a tow bar on the wife's car already, I needed it to tow the bikes to Wakefield next week. And if you think it's expensive on a VW then you'll fall over if I tell you how much they charged me for the Range Rover ...

The trailer (with steel floor) weighs 158 kg.
It's very easy to push around by yourself, unlike the behemoth Falco and I had before.
It tows really easy and also has the added benefit of being able to be converted into a box trailer with a few more bits that they also sell.
