I was on the way to work on friday morning and saw a 1098 with a LUGGAGE Rack!!! Which made me think, what other bikes should not be seen with a luggage rack.

It was red. I didn't recognise what sort of bike it was until i got close because of the bag. Then was in shock, all that money and then do that to such a nice looking bike. Apologies to any 1098 owners on here with a luggage rack.

There's an 848 that turns up every now and again to EC (I've seen it twice) and it has a luggage rack.

I guess it's better than having a desmosidici with saddlebags, but it's still wrong, IMO.

No bike should have luggage racks. (Well no sport bikes)

Tried not to laugh to loud when I saw it too. btw, it's the only 1098/848 I've seen with such. :dohsmiley:

Obviously a C.U.B. *

Real conoscenti would only ever fit the original Ducati Corse Touring Bags (tank and tailpiece).......for performance, of course.....

Although it could be worse...........

From our Swiss friends :

NB - note how cleverly the weight of the rear-sack is offset by the replacement carbon-fibre bodywork. Swiss precision!

I say there is nothing wrong with sport bikes with luggage racks. You guys may do your short 300k's a day weekend blasts, while I will do 3000k's week trips on mine.

LOL, if only your bike wasnt a tourer, then that may hold some merit :lmao:

its more of a sports lite, than sport tourer. and nothing much tourer about it any more.

Then again i have no love for hard luggage.

Some of us would rather ride a heavy laden bike than a near empty car.

seeing this is turning into the merits of touring on a sports bike.

though id throw a quote ive heard and somes it up pretty frigen good:ayyy:.. think it was about touring on a 1098 or MV(as these are supposed to be the most 'focused' sportsbike)..but IMO you could apply it to Blades, Gixxers etc etc

from memory.

can you tour on a MV or duck?... Of course you can

should you tour on an mV/duck?.. oh hell yes

is it comfortable to do so?.. dont be soft

so why do it?.. cause its the most exciting overwhelming experince a road rideing motorcyclist can have

Why? because it demands your utter and complete attention and involvement. for every kilometre of the journey..you and it will be riding not cruising, or touring or sight seeing, reading the GPS, listening to ya ipod or taking it easy..

you will be riding and riding with 100% commitment just as god intended you to ride when he gave you a gene that dismissed common sense

===============

any way i could not put a ventura rack on mine.. i just travel light with a back pack and ducati tankbag.. if it cant fit or the credit card cant buy it, its not needed on the trip:lmao::ayyy:

Well it's like this, trailer them up to Gingers, throw down four or five laps, put them back on the trailer, two stubbies out from the Engel gone by Walcha. Cruise home without squared off tyres on the bike, talk shit with my mate for hours.
Sweet as...
