Has any form of motorsport that has gone to a control tyre come back from being a single tyre manufacturer at some stage?

good question:confused1:..

seems all the majors are single tyre for now.. i reckon its just a phase/stage.. give it 5-10yrs and it will return to several suppliers then add another 10yrs and be back to single.. the old history repeats itself cliche
