Crash blackspots to be targeted this November – Operation Obedience
Tuesday, 04 Nov 2008

The failure of drivers to obey red and orange traffic control lights, stop and give way signs and other intersection regulatory signs will be targeted across the South West Metropolitan Region during Operation Obedience.

Operation Obedience will be conducted during November where Police will strategically target the top three ‘black-spot’ intersections in each Local Area Command within South West Metropolitan Region.

South West Metropolitan Region Commander, Assistant Commissioner Mennilli said police would focus on drivers committing these offences in response to the significant number of crashes resulting in death or serious injury across the Region.

“In the lead up to the Christmas period, we have been targeting areas with a high crash history through campaigns such as Operation DRINK DRIVE 2 and Operation RORTAC” Assistant Commissioner Mennilli said. “We will continue focussing on problem areas with a bad crash history, along with maintaining a high profile on all major arterial roads”.

“If you are travelling throughout the South West Metropolitan Region during November, you need to be aware that Police will be covertly and overtly targeting major ‘black-spot’ intersections. If you fail to obey red or orange lights, or any other regulatory signs you will be stopped” said Assistant Commissioner Mennilli.

Intersections on the following roads will be targeted:

M4 Motorway
-Victoria Road
-Parramatta Road
-Hume Highway
-Milperra Road
-Canterbury Road
-Stacey Street
-King Georges Road
-M5 Motorway
-Princes Highway
-Cumberland Highway
-Woodville Road
-The Horsley Drive,
-Elizabeth Drive
-Northern Road
-Narellan Road
-Camden Valley Way
-Appin Road
-Old Hume Highway
-Campbelltown Road
and identified semi rural roads.

You know why they're targeting traffic lights, don't you? It was recently revealed that something like 90% of the red light cameras don't work, they don't even manufacture the old style film for them any longer :lmao::lmao::lmao:

:finger::finger::finger:

film ?, when did they go back to film ?, it's been digital for years , hasn't it ?.

About time really, seeing there was a tragic accident this arvo on the turn off from Pacific highway and Ryde road fatalities i dare say three cars ran into a truck and flipped, now this could only have been due to not paying attention...its a fucking off ramp.

What this is about in my eyes is this. Target "red light offences"... but ofcourse for one motorist they notice doing this, get 50000000 "operation red light" unrelated speeding offences.

Today for god knows what time, I saw an unmarked, lowered, tinted, stickered, HWP car doing well over double the speed limit in day time "pedestrtian city traffic" to catch a guy that would have been doing no more than 15k's over at most....

There is no excuse...

NOPE. Most are still film. Oh, they're good this NSW government :ayyy:

(Looks like I had the details a little wrong, it's not 90% but still a hell of a lot)
