Why do the Kawasaki do so much better in the US than any other comp?
I have a Duc and a Kwaka so always coping shite...

Just watching the AMA re runs on fox and Kwaka third on the podium and doing top 10 consistantly...

So what is it?

Kawasaki in the USA is a full factory team with possibly the most developed ZX-10Rs in the world. Japanese test riders visit America at least once a year to test with the team, while the American riders play a major role in developing new production bikes and travel to Japan a few times per year.

The Kawasaki AMA Superbikes have different swingarms, different shape fuel tanks to lower the centre of gravity, and many other changes from the production-based bikes we see racing in Aussie Superbikes.

I'm not sure why the World SBK team struggles so much, but with Paul Bird Motorsport taking over next year they could maybe turn their form around with Broc Parkes and Tamada.

Kawasaki also does really well in Supersport in America, too, so they are doing something right over there.

Tommy Hayden on the Kwaka was extremely dominant in the AMA SS for a few year running.

I hope there is a vast improvement at team green WSBK team. There were rumours of them pulling out completely?

That would be a shame. With the right management and focus, i'm sure they could be a regular in the top 10.

They used to be....As u would know......anyway bring on the WSBK season.
They just need a good rider for a season or so to do some good development, would love to see a AMA bike and rider run one of the US rounds in WSBK

Just shows you where Kawasakis focus is. Clearly America is a bigger market to Kawasaki then Europe.

If they can do well in AMA does that make the AMA a weaker series? or are they just more focused on the AMA?

Wasn't it in the late 90's the zx7r dominated WSBK?

Can't see the status quo changing in the near future though.

Yeah wasn't it Slight and Haga? No, Haga was on the Yammie R7, Slight though I think....or was he on the VTR, whatever, I remember it was great fun racing to watch then even if I didn't really know who was who :D

I don't think its a weaker series, Honda doesn't do well in this comp and if it were the weaker series i reckon they would stomp on everyone as there is so much testing and go fast bits available for the big H.
Kawasaki is huge in the US like Yamaha here.
Team green in OZ and in the WSBK have never had a good rider or above average rider, Brit SBK they don't do as bad...

But none of those guys hung around for long enough for any development to be introduced which is prob not there fault as kwaka is know to be a bit slow on the development side, new rider comes along and changes everything, Kawasaki's 10r has changed back and forth to much to have a solid base '04-05 killer engine but uncontrollable, '06-07 pig of a bike owned one... '08 back to basics but still not a complete package.

So it must just be the bike and only the Euro models?

Not saying any of these riders are not up to par but there is such a difference being its such a similar bike....

oh and i'm leaving out one of the best, sorry to all. Mr bayliss even spent some time wearing green.
the OZ sbk rules are more like super stock to the rest of the world. our bikes arent near the rest. we are way behind but our riders are up there

Yeah, I do wonder sometimes why I have a large settings bank and the tools for the FGR range of fork! :lmao:

Cheers for the the info too.

Double edged sword, the hanging around bit... I bet if I was an up and coming racer, I'd be thinking that I will get one chance to jump up the ladder and be seen as a "prospect" so having a season on an uncompetative bike wont do me any favours.... better to jump on the bike that can be competetive (ie anybike bar Kawasaki)..

BTW.. It was Muzzy Kawasaki with Scott Russel that was doing the biz way back when they played on 750's.. Still remember the ding dong battle between him and Foggy at Donnington.

I think the man reason Kawasaki havent been as competitive in WSBK and Aust SBK is down to one thing. . Riders. Riders make up 75% of the package in my poinion. They have a some pretty decent riders in the US like tommy hayden but in WSBK they have had some average to poor riders (relitivly, still way eay way faster than i'll ever be).

I recon if you chucked baylis, haga and corser on the zx-10 and put Laconi and Tamada on the Duc and Yammy it would still be baylis and Haga batteling up front with Laconi and Tamada keeping the backmarkers company
