But do they stick Daz? :lmao:
I thought it would be a top tyre to go fast but I just kept getting slower and kept loosing confidence. Please don't misunderstand me I'm not saying the tyre is crap but I have learned why some tyres work for you and some don't. It is necessary to tune your suspension to the tyres and although you fit the same size tyres as before, manufacturers differ in their dimensions in height and rolling diametre. This affects your motorcycle's basic geometry and can make it easy or hard to ride. Tyres can also change the load centre/bias of the bike, again effecting handling.
Technogeekery recently had two crashes at EC and couldn't understand why he felt no feedback from the tyre before it let go. Answer, suspension wasn't tune to him, the tyres and the conditions. You should have a read of his blog too.
There's a good read on suspension geometry and how changing tyre brands effects this, somewhere on this forum :confused1: . Well endeavour to find it for ya :ayyy:

But do they stick Daz? :lmao:
Admittedly he wasn't going all that quick but the feedback from the rear he was getting was that it was not gripping at all
Where as his old 014's was well stuck at the same speeds

And Zee talking about Pilot Power 2CT not Pilot power race

Huh....bugger, thought the 2CT stood for the dual compound Power races. :confused1:
Didn't know Pilot Powers came in dualies :o

Tyres the never ending story, the 2CT is a good tyre & anybody that likes Pilot Powers will love them. But the thing is the Pilot Power in standard form is very close to same grip wise. I only get about 4000kms out of a rear Pilot Power on a bike that doesn't have high hp & a V4 so smooth power delivery so changing to a 2CT that are about $40 more than a Pilot Power doesn't offer real time value for extra grip you think you might need.
If you use your bike as a road/track bike then maybe use the 2CT, but most who do & attend allot buy spare wheels & fit slicks. If you go to the track maybe twice a year person you still wouldn't notice the extra grip the 2CT offers from a Pilot Power but you will be paying for it big time. I also don't like the feed back from the race & really don't like the race fronts which would be close to same compound used on 2CT edges me thinks & I also found the race to take a while to warm up, unlike the Pliot Powers which warm very quickly so that makes me wounder how the different compound in the 2CT heat.
The other point here is most people that really would use the grip the 2CT offers would wear out the sides before the centre so wear profile for bike handling would go down hill fast (I would like to see tyre profile on a few sets used on the track).
Now my personal choice for a tyre with side grip like the 2CT is a Diablo Corsa which are a great track/road tyre & if I didn't wear a rear in 2500kms I would run them all the time.

I have had nothing but net with the 2CTs. I think it has a lot to do with riding style. I had them up in the mountains a little while back with guys riding at the same speed, with the same load on the same bike. Some were torn up and balled. Mine were smooth as a babies butt. The pressures were very similiar. has to be a style thing. Maybe a little of suspension dial in helped too.

I heard the 2CT's dont give much feedback in the front so didnt bother with it.
I also noticed that the fronts only seem to have the softer compound on the last inch of the rear and 5mm on the front! This is according to their own diagrams. Im only getting to the last 4mm on the front (street riding) so not sure what benifit im going to get from it unless at the track...

It's a personal thing. The only way to tell is to try em and make up your own mind.
I recently fit a set of tyre I liked on my last bike onto my current baby. Now I think they're the worst thing since white sliced bread.

Did you measure the diameter of the old and new tyres?
Different diameters will change your height, which I also found effects your damper settings.
E.g I went from stock BT014 to Pilot powers then all of a sudden it felt front heavy and what used to be a touch hard in the front, was now soft with the new tyres. I hated them at first but over the past 4 weeks I managed to get it spot on until I tried to get more sag from the rear (last week) which now needs to be fine tuned (even though I noted changes)
