Hey just wondering if anyone is going to be going out for a look and the racing going on at Eastern Creek next weekend? OR, for that matter, is anyone else racing there?

i know that last years event got alot more of a crowd than the Aus superbikes pulled, and from what ive seen of the entrants lists, its going to be bigger this year. There are a few big grids, i know New Era 2 has about 47 riders maxed out. There is also going to be a swap meet and a few vendors displays also. oh yeah, and the racing is pretty good too!!

If you have nothing better to do, you should come out for a look, it definately wont be disappointing like the supers were.:eyecrazy:

I decided not to race. Apart from a crappy couple of months gravity wise it wasnt good value. $200 for 3 or 4 5 lap races over 2 days plus garage cost didnt do it for me.

PCRA are lots of fun though and it will be good to watch.Id recommend getting it there if you can. I should be in the remaining rounds if things go to plan so come out and see old guys running round on old bikes. The racing is a lot tougher up the front than you might expect. At least I hear thats what its like up the front:(

what's the deal with the pcra rounds?, been looking at getting into some racing, but from what i could gather from the circuit breakers website, all rego's had to be done in december, but if anyone knows how and where a beginner can get a run in this year, would be verry interested, and i'll be doing my best to get out there next weekend:ayyy:

hey matt, i dont know too much about having to have rego done in december........ as far as i know, you can get an application form to join the pcra from their website, then get your race license and get on the track. there is no deadline as to when you can join up.

i dont know exactly how they do it at pcra, but usually you just have to provide a copy of your drivers license, and they give you an "exam", to do at your own leisure, open book, nothing too taxing. heck, im sure they would even give you the answers if you wanted them hehe. but dont get too caught up in all that junk and confuse yourself, its a pretty simple process, if you want to get into it, let me know, i'll help you out.

Comp licence is actually from MNSW. http://www.motorcycling.com.au/ Theres a lot of info on their website.

You join a club first , say the PCRA, then you apply for your licence. There is a test but they send you the information the test is based on.Also its on the site. So it is open book in your own time at your house. So if you dont pass it you really shouldnt be out there:headshake: Then you send MNSW a copy of your licence, the test, the forms from the club and some nice passport photos (preferably of you). Wait a little while, this bit varies, and taa daa you get a shiney new comp licence back in the mail. Then you can start entering races to your hearts content.

The series run through Circuit Breakers is seperate to PCRA and you have to be a member of a participating club but thats just a matter of joining the club if you already have a licence.

It can seem complicated, especially if like me you had to work it all out on your own, but just take it 1 step at a time at it will all come together.Stick with it, theres always room for 1 more;)

hey everybody, i just got home from practise @ EC. im pretty happy with how my bike went. All i want to say is that if that was practise, there is going to be some serious racing going on this weekend, and if you do manage to venture out that way, i dont think you'll be disappionted!!

Yep. Join St George (I think $5.00!) and do the East Coast Series then.My understanding is at the moment C and D grade superbikes will be gridded seperate to A and b but that would probably depend on numbers.

Dont worry too much about who else is on the track everyone seems to assume all other racers have years of experience and you will look like a knob amongst them. Truth is some have been doing it a while but are slow as ( like me:( ) and some are just starting out too.If youve done a few ride days and havent gotten in anyones way your probably OK to be racing. The way James has set up the entries is actually really good.Enter one day or both and choose how much racing you do on the weekend.

Have a look on the Circuitbreakers site it shows all the classes and entry requirements etc.Just post up any specific questions you have and Ill try to answer them.

I'll check out the site too, thanks Sprinter. :ayyy:

But what sort of times are we talking?? OP, EC and WP to be a mid-runner at these circuits in a stock 600 category.

Sorry lost this thread:confused: Zee as far as times go Im not sure what the moderns would be running as Ive been with PCRA for the last few years. Dont worry too much being "middle of the pack" or whatever. You tend to push yourself a little more racing than a ride day so its, sometimes, hard to compare. If you are comfortably mixing it up with some guys around you it doesnt really matter if you are battling for second or second last.

Go to a club meeting and just time a couple of races. I time guys towards the back and the front to try and get a range. Just to give you an idea of the spread I timed some "superbikes" at the ECRR round at Wakefield last year. Most 600s get around in 1.08 to 1.12 (plus a bit). Im struggling to get around in any better than 1.15-16 on a 10 year old basically stock 600. The two guys at the back of the superbike field, on 04 R1s or thereabouts, were getting around in 1.24 to 1.26! But I bet they still had the best time theyve ever had on a track. I dont mean this as a bagging for those guys its just to show that anyone can have a go.

Here endeth the lesson:)
