This site ain't bad, quite a few good articles. This particular one i was surprised to find in the 4th paragraph, that weaving is not the most efficient way to warm a bike tyre, hard accel and braking are more effective.

That is because friction generates heat. The faster you go the more friction.

:confused1::confused1::confused1: I really wonder about the whole tyres needing to be scrubbed in or what every you want to call it. I have had the rear spin up way easy on fresh rubber and have seen a guy come off at the track on new rubber who said he wasn't pushin as hard as normal:confused1::confused1::confused1:
I personally will keep gradually workin mine in over 50 or so k's

Maybe the tyres weren't up to temp on both occasions, especially the track guy not pushing hard.

All bikes or wheels fitted with road tyres at my shop get wiped down with tyre buffer or Prepsol (wax & grease remover) before they go out. The mould release agent is what makes them slippery.
When I fit new tyres to my bike(s) they are wiped down then I'll ride a couple of laps or a few klms to get them up to temp' before I go for it. Even old tyres should be brought up to temp' before getting on the wick!.

I'm surprised that the stuff is not removed after manufacturing ... given today's litigious society. Does it maybe protect the rubber until sold? Stops it from drying out perhaps?
