6 of the top 13 bikes Ducatis! as much as I love the Dukes it would be a shame to see the WSBK go back to the old times when it was unofficially called the "Ducati Cup"!
I thought KTM were going to be racing this year? what happened to that?
Parkes has done well on his Kwaka! :ayyy:

Portimao World Supersport Times - Day 1 Session 2 - Better Weather, Faster Times

The weather is improving in Portugal, and times are dropping considerably. In the second session of Supersport testing, it was Joan Lascorz who started off quickest, edging Cal Crutchlow by 1/10th of a second, with former WSS champion Kenan Sofuoglu setting the third fastest time. Dutchman Barry Veneman's fourth quickest times means that four different brands set the four fastest times for this session, a promising start to the 2009 season. Testing continues tomorrow.

Wonder whats goin through Haga mind lookin at Spies up there...

Ducati Xerox pairing Michel Fabrizio and Noriyuki Haga pronounced themselves happy following the first day of testing for the 2009 World Superbike Championship at Portimao.

Back on the bike after dominating last time out at Kyalami, Fabrizio was once again in fine form as he battled for the quickest time in both the wet morning and dry afternoon sessions.

Emerging an eventual second place, two tenths behind Sterilgarda Ducati's Shane Byrne, while Fabrizio admits he would have liked to have stolen the headlines at the end of day one, he was satisfied to be up at the front again.

?It's nice to be back here in Portugal. We've made a good start and even though I was hoping to make the fastest time of the day I'm happy with the results anyway. We'll see if the track dries out a bit in time for tomorrow's sessions, if it does I'll be able to get a lot more laps under my belt.?

Compared to his first day out in South Africa, when he crashed three times, Haga enjoyed a far less eventful time on the 1098R as the ex-Yamaha man continued to get acclimatised to his surroundings.

Fifth quickest in the afternoon, half a second adrift of Fabrizio, Haga claims to be 'relaxed' with his new bike and team.

?It's gone well today. This morning we couldn't do so much because the track was still very wet but the afternoon was more productive. I'm feeling pretty relaxed and comfortable with the bike and the team. I've had no real problems so far.?

Portimao World Supersport Times - Day 3 Session 1 - West Rules In The Wet

The weather reappeared with a vengeance this morning, lashing the Algarve coast and keeping many of the Supersport riders off the track. To nobody's surprise, Ant West set the fastest time in the wet aboard the Stiggy Motorsports Honda, ahead of Katsuaki Fujiwara on the Kawasaki and Matej Smrz a surprising third on the Triumph. Practice is scheduled to continue this afternoon, but with the weather poor, more riders may choose to skip testing.

Parkalgar WSB test: Byrne again on final day

By Michael Guy

World Superbikes

25 January 2009 18:51

Shane Byrne made it three out of three by setting the fastest time once again on the third and final day of the World Superbike test at Parkalgar today (Sunday).

Byrne set his best time during the new look Superpole session which sees a three stage knock out system decide pole position. The new qualifying system will be introduced at the opening round of the championship at Phillip Island and WSB organisers used the Parkalgar test to try out the new formula.

Byrne said:

“The conditions weren't as good today, there were a few puddles, there had been some crashes so there was oil on the track, it was windy so it just wasn't the day for putting it all on the line. I'm happy though, the test has gone really well, we've still got work to do and there is more to come.”

Alstare Suzuki man Max Neukirchner underlined his potential by securing second in Superpole to back up his consistent lap times throughout the test.

Jonathan Rea attacked Superpole with his trademark determination to take third with Haga fourth and Haslam fifth making it three British riders in the top five.

I thought Nakano did well to beat Max. Max has also been to the track. Its Nakanos first time.

Corser was the suprise. The BMW may well surpirse a few this year.
