I'd only ever ride a 2WD bike that was borne from the factory itself. Those mod kits butcher up the frame which I don't fancy.

Very interesting though. I'd like to ride one, just as I'd like to ride one of those 4 wheel super whiz-bang suspension maximum lean angle bikes.

I'd have a 2WD bike before one with ABS I think... But that's not saying I'd buy the first one out there either. I (think I) can understand the benefits of the front being driven as well and believe there would be some nice benefits from it. Problem is: at what cost?

Funny, I'm old enough to remember the criticism of the first 4WD cars (was it the winning skylines in the 80's) and now look at the WRX's etc. I have no idea if they will work as bikes, but I'm intrigued by the way they work (ie only engage when the back starts to spin etc). IF it works, it would be a great advantage as well as an important safety item.
Seems to me that just like traction control and combined ABS, 2WD is only feasible now that we have the electronics and the technology to control it properly.

Nissan have had that technology since the late 80's.....it's called ATTESA E-TS and has been fitted in all of the GTR's.

The GTR is really a rear wheel drive car (not a true 4 wheel drive) with a fancy computer that sends the torque to the front wheels to make it run 4 wheels when needed.

Can't say I'd go for a bike with 2wd unless it was a trailie!

he would have to sell it to the manufactures if he wants to sell it (cause who wants the frame cut? and whos gonna pay for what has to be a expensive converion?) but its only gonna push up the cost of bikes. but too much techology on bikes like traction control, abs, 2wd taken away the skill of riding. soon you will be able to grab fistful of throttle or grab too much brake and computer will correct it or stop you leaning it over too much or even brake the speed limit (which is coming on cars, germans have been devloping this) im not fully against abs be good for comute to work but technogly is taking away our control.

That's right I saw Steven Johnson test riding one a few years ago. I don't think people rated them
