Melandri Agrees To Ride "Dornasaki"?
Tuesday, February 10, 2009

Sources in Europe this afternoon confirm that Italian Marco Melandri has agreed to ride the ex-Kawasaki MotoGP bikes this season. Insiders suggest that Dorna will run the team independently and the bikes will be not be branded with the Kawasaki logo.

Dorna is attempting to acquire the Kawasaki machines and run them through a self-sponsored effort in 2009.

is it worth it with out the factory support or are they just
:beatdeadhorse: and making up numbers to please the sponsors that are left on the books in moto gp

Possibly the later. It's one thing to admire human hope in the face of adversity but even with full factory backing Kawasaki didn't have a chance... Unless Melandri has become stronger with the force.

Making up numbers. They need to have X (19 min I think) amount of bikes on the grid for it to be a world champioinship.

Well, there's a letter sent to the latest Rapid magazine where they say that Kawasaki are only taking a year or two off, and will be back soon enough.

I read an Italian blog that claimed Melandri is resigned to sitting this year out altogether. Who knows?

I feel sorry for the poor bloke. What a career move - Dorna supported Kawasaki team which, even with full factory support wasn't going anywhere anyway..

As far as i'm concerned, Dorna mad their bed, now they can lie in it.

Its not good for the spectators but i think we need a big upheval in MOTOGP. Quite frankly at the moment it SUX. Just like superbikes did with Ducati dominating (apart from Edwards on the VTR1000). They had a big upheval, with single tyre supplier, equalling of machines (750 4's to 1000cc) and a few other things and look how good WSBK is now.

I'm sure that if Rossi had hung up his leathers MOTOGP would almost be non-existant, ever since the 990's left we have had sub standart racing. I know the issues in MOTOGP are very diffeent from what was going on in WSBK a few years back but in the end alot of shit needs to change and change in a big way, manufacturers will jump up and down and some will quit (there isnt one factory japanese team in WSBK, no honda, yamaha, suzuki or kawasaki factory support!) but i would rather watch privateers and dealer suported teams with close hard racing anyday of the week instead of a 30 lap precession of full factory machines.

Rant complete. . . .

-1 on I'm sure that if Rossi had hung up his leathers MOTOGP would almost be non-existant, ............as i would still be watching it reading about it till its gone (moto gp racing ) rossi dosent make moto gp its the bikes and racing that do it for me

I bet Ezpeleta is starting to sweat knowing of Rossi's increasing interest in WRC in a couple of years... Without him MotoGP is in a whole world of hurt.

Good point. Another reason why I don't understand taxi cab racing.
