Guys I just got my new front tyre fitted and I have some concerns...

I initially thought I was getting a Pilot power 2ct, but when I got there the bloke put a side for me a Pilot road 2ct...He swore by it and said it would be better than the 'power'...

So going off his recommendation I put it on...

Now my concern is I'm running a Pilot Power rear, just the normal one not the 2ct, is it ok to run the Pilot road 2ct at the front or is this compound to hard?

This is on a 1000rr...

Cheers.

It probably wont be to much drama but I wouldn't have fitted a road2 on the front of a CBR1000RR.

The road2 is classed a touring tyre really but the edge compound is more or less same as pilot power, the 2CT edge compound is race compound & softer again compared to the pilot power. The road2 also has a flatter profile so your turn in will be a little slower.

The 2CT uses same profile as the pilot power.

I run a pilot power front & road2 rear which is a great combo for tyre life but a bike like the CBR1000RR hard throttle out of corners will spin up the road2 more, I spin it up on my VFR800 but it is very predictable & is a great tyre on the rear.

The main question is how hard do you ride & did you notice a difference riding the bike after the road2 being fitted, example bike doesn't turn in as easy as before.

Pilot power all the same compound.
2CT 2 compounds, center pilot power, edge race.
Road2 compounds, center hard compound, edge about same as pilot power compound (flatter profile than the other 2)

I personally would have put a pilot power or 2CT on the front of a CBR1000RR more so due to the tyre profile & he probably sold you the road2 because that's what he had & didn't have either of the other 2. I would only fit a road2 to a sports bike if it was mainly a commuter & would never put one on the front.
