Hi Guys,

How much do ya reckon I can pick up a secondhand 2006 r6 motor. some guy wants to do a straight swap with his R6 (blown motor) needs side fairings and belly pan. What are your thoughts brothers? (project bike?) Dont bother?:confused1:

If you look in supers, a well sorted R6 asking 7-9k with spares, what there selling for probably less. id imagine engines to be round the 2-3k mark , depends if you can fit it your self or not but fitting close to 800 mark but rest of parts look pretty easy to get hold and in cheap supply, Depends , was the aim to get quick cash to put into your new bike or tooo get another project you need to dip back into the savings :confused1:

if you allowed a minimum of 2.5k it's plausible... make a good tracky

What's wrong with the motor exactly?

Two motors on ebay in US currently, both fetchin 2700 and 2200 respectively , i would hate to see what the wreckers would ask ?

Yeah thanks fellas. Im not the most mechanically minded bloke out there. I probably dont need the brain damage considering there are so many deals on AUS - SUPERs that I could buy a perfectly good bike later on - but the cashflow would be preferrable. Dont need to sell the tracky but its just sitting there.

you can get one for about 2k with a fresh motor (low km) form the auctions as a stat write off ( snapped frame)& still have heaps of spares left over....
but you may have to wait a while for one to come up.

a vfr 400, vs R6 ? no comparison mate, vfr will push to do 200, and needs to be continuesly in the high range of the rev department, speed lost on straight bits, tried to gain in the corners is the reason they end up messy. Where as the R6 ?, corner speed a plenty, but with the bonus of being able to nail throttle on exit to feel the power on tap, not hear chuggachuggadingdingg as you do on a 400 which has had the living shit thrashed out of it each time on track ( generally on road too). Rupert, swap and keep the R6 until a suitably priced motor comes up, it will.

If you can get the R6 on the track for under 6k,price of vfr included, then yes its worth it.
Any more $$ then that, well then its not worth getting rid of one head ache for another.....:hatter:

Hi guys last week I sold the VFR on Friday for $4200 with tyre warmers and stand. The guys gave me the third degree before he bought it to which I feel he was entitled as got badly ripped off on the last bike which was a stolen bike converted to a trakky. Pretty interesting story apparently as he said he rolled up to the house of the seller in Orchard Hills with the sellers dogs barking behind a fence really loudly. The seller kept yelling out their individual names and saying be quiet Butch ect.. Then when the dude bought the bike he got done for goods in custody. Went back to the house and the guy didnt even live there he just arbitrarily turned up to some strangers place and parked the bike out the front... Poor bastard
